Great Old Hotel - Free to Tour

We were told this was a "must see" historic hotel in town. We were allowed to walk around and look at the antiques they have on display. They also leave all the doors open in the rooms until the guests check-in, so you can look inside the various rooms. Each are furnished with antique period... read more

I have eaten at the General Lewis many times, when visiting family in the area. It was recently taken over by the Greenbrier. I had high hopes, but was greatly disappointed. The menu is very limited and greatly over priced. I had taken my 87 year old uncle and talked him into ordering the lamb chops. The quality of the... More

Met my sisters for a girls get away, every thing was what I had expected, except a big disappointment when I found out that they were no longer serving breakfast, as of the day of our first morning there, they did have coffee and muffins, not what I am accustomed to having for breakfast, I might say that the breakfast... Spent a night in Lewisburg on long drive and decided this place looked nice for breakfast. Sat outdoors on porch of this charming old world inn. Very good crab cakes, pancakes, waffle, French toast AND importantly excellent coffee. Loved the atmosphere. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was quantity on light side for price. But sides available if more... More

The historic General Lewis Hotel where this restaurant is located oozes charm and is just three blocks from the very center of the historic downtown. There are several interesting independent restaurants in the downtown, but the others are closed Sunday and even Monday. So you could go to Ruby Tuesdays up closer to the Interstate or find a fast food... More

Their breakfast menu has many items including Eggs Benedict and numerous other items. We enjoyed dinner there one night and I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. I wasn't particularly hungry so I ordered a vegetarian pasta. No, I'm not a vegetarian. The vegetables were fresh, sliced in nice sizes and grilled to perfection. They added... More

We stayed two nights in a room with two double beds and bath on the first floor. The small hotel has a restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner. It is convenient to the Lewisburg downtown area. It is "No smoking" except for outside garden area. The gardens were lovely in spring with hydrangeas, lilacs, wisteria as well as many flowering... More

The waiter was very Friendly, exceptional at his job. The Brunch was delicious. Crabs cakes and potatoes ! The prices are fair. A "must" historical stop! Built in late 1800's

General Lewis dining used to be a really special occasion for us... cozy atmosphere with elegance (linens and real flowers) and offerings on the special side... but our visit this week put it more in the restaurant-chain type service. Servers were matter of fact instead of showing the former gracious southern hospitality. (I should mention that I was always troubled... More

The food is very good! I had their vegetable pasta, trout and fried chicken and they were delicious but it's quite expensive for a small town I think.
