Hipster aesthetic combines with old South Charm

I've visited the General Lewis on and off for nearly 30 years, and it was always long on tradition and weak on food. Having now visited twice for dinner under the new ownership, I can say that the update was well worth it. Not every dish is a hit (meh on the crab hush-puppies, and the desserts... read more

Fabulous, I could not be more pleased with our meals. Quiet setting, with quick service. We were impressed with everything they made for us

The Jefferson Dining Room is proud to serve farm-to-table fare - healthy, tasty, and gourmet. While staying at the inn, we had brunch out on the verandah on Sunday, and then dinner on Monday eve in the oldest part of the inn, among lovely antiques. We live near the coast, where it's buggy in the summer, and it was a... More

The Jefferson Dining Room in Lewisburg, WV's General Lewis Inn boasts an interesting Colonial ambiance, has convenient free parking and a convenient site near the town Center. But the attitude of the owner-operators, high price for medium quality food (how about $2.75 per strip for bacon at brunch?) and definitely not customer friendly attitude makes it forgettable. Earlier my wife... More

A quintessential American experience. This beautiful colonial hotel and restaurant is all you could ever hope for if you want to experience the charms of the south. Attentive, gracious and professional staff. Friendly without being over familiar, outstanding atmosphere and wonderful attention to detail. We ate on the front verandah under an imposing portico with spotlessly white table linens, perfect... More

I can't believe the quality here. I am a food person, and very picky. I'm usually disappointed in restaurants. I didn't expect what I found here: ingredients and skill that rival what you'd find in a coastal city. (And the traditional southern food would seem trendy if not for the fact that this is its native habitat!)

Was my first time there for dinner since Sparrow bought the Inn. First, the meals were wonderful, crab cakes with a lovely slightly spicy cocktail sauce on the side. Crisp, fresh green salad with a maple syrup mustard dressing - very interesting. Husband had prime rib which was perfect. The vegetable was a lima bean, corn medley that was a... More

My brother had just recently graduated from WVU and had finally made it home to see the family, so, we decided to celebrate by going to The General Lewis Inn for dinner. As we arrived, leading up the steps was a beautifully arranged outside seating area. Continuing inside we were lead to an astonishing surprise; a bar and lounge area... More

Local sourced food sets the menu off from the competition. The prime rib and the Nicoise Salad were excellent. The farm to table experience is very good and the service was very attentive, but not hovering. Dining can be done inside or out on the porch. The only downside is that none of us liked the unique cornbread they served,... More

Such a beautiful little place for brunch! Thought the food was really great & exploring afterwards is even better! Day was made when a 95 year old man walked in dressed to the nines in his blue seersucker suit. There's a little shack out back, go in it for a creepy surprise ;-)
