First and foremost, our family loves the town of Lewisburg; it's shops, people and rich history. Our family has been visiting Lewisburg since 2003 when we purchased Westwinds, a horse farm in western Virginia near Lake Moomaw. While we've enjoyed the several restaurants in town, we also felt the locals as well as tourists would welcome and support more restaurant options, and so far we've been right! Our family's first restaurant, Stella's, has been a hit since we opened in January, 2011. Stella's, named and inspired after our mom Alice Stella Hirt who passed away in 1985, is warm, welcoming and elegant, just like our mom was. Stella's has many feminine touches which were influenced by our mom and put into place by Tammy. Our newest restaurant, The Livery Tavern, on the other hand is a very masculine interpretation of a mid-1800's tavern, with an open beamed ceiling and a generous use of natural materials and earth tones both inside and out. The Livery has a full bar, privacy booth seating, outdoor patio seating and an extensive wine and port list. Our menu is a reflection of this same interpretation, with dishes including grilled venison, quail, lamb and local beef cuts like 2 inch bone-in rib eyes. The Livery is also fashioned with a unique military motif to honor our father Major General John B. Hirt USMC, who passed away in 2012. You'll find these military influences in our logo and other decorative treatments inside the restaurant.

First time visit

We very much enjoyed our first visit to the Livery. The appetizers all looked so good we couldn't decide between them so we ordered about 6 or 7 instead of ordering entrees and they were all great. Looking forward to trying some of the main dishes next time.

Brought 8 customers and co-workers to The Livery for dinner. Travel delays made us 20 minutes late and we were very graciously accommodated. Restaurant is very attractive, accented with antiques but not fussy at all. The table, settings, etc are all well-selected and comfortable. Our waiter was outstanding- the service was as good as you will find in any major... More

I have been to Paris, I lived in Philadelphia for 12 years during their restaurant Renaissance. I have eaten at Le Bec Fin a few times. Who would ever think that the best lamb that I would ever eat would come from a restaurant in WV that had the word Tavern in its title? You have probably guessed by now... More

The Livery, now in its third season, is a major addition to high end dining in Lewisburg. A short walk from Lewisburg's town center, it offers the classic ambiance of a traditional London restaurant, an unusually wide selection of both high and moderate ticket wines and full bar service. Virginia oysters, locally sourced trout and vegetables and a well balanced... More

Food is excellent! The atmosphere was just as nice. It reminded me of being in NYC. It is an upscale restaurant that is worth the money.

Expensive and indifferent. Over familiar staff and my pasta dish was inedible . I find it hard to understand how a restaurant could screw up such a simple dish but the sauce was of an unrecognisable nature and the pasta as tough as old leather. The waiter did his best to make amends and to be fair I was not... More

The atmosphere is perfect for the town. Upscale with lots of character, themed just as the name suggests: livery. High beamed ceilings, cozy seating area with a fireplace, and a fun bar. We went with friends, staying 1 night in Lewisburg on our way to The Greenbrier. Three people had trout, and raved about it. I had the wonderful chicken... More

We called at the last minute and they were able to accommodate six for dinner in a Friday night. The atmosphere was nice, a bit loud. The food was tasty, but they did mix up my steak with my husband but every thing was good. The dessert, peaches and cream Cheesecake was wonderful. Over all it was a nice evening,... More

We decided to go to a nice place for dinner a day after our International rally. It is in the cute town of Lewisburg. Very nice and cozy place. It is a bit spendy, but for the quality of the food, it was worth it.
