First and foremost, our family loves the town of Lewisburg; it's shops, people and rich history. Our family has been visiting Lewisburg since 2003 when we purchased Westwinds, a horse farm in western Virginia near Lake Moomaw. While we've enjoyed the several restaurants in town, we also felt the locals as well as tourists would welcome and support more restaurant options, and so far we've been right! Our family's first restaurant, Stella's, has been a hit since we opened in January, 2011. Stella's, named and inspired after our mom Alice Stella Hirt who passed away in 1985, is warm, welcoming and elegant, just like our mom was. Stella's has many feminine touches which were influenced by our mom and put into place by Tammy. Our newest restaurant, The Livery Tavern, on the other hand is a very masculine interpretation of a mid-1800's tavern, with an open beamed ceiling and a generous use of natural materials and earth tones both inside and out. The Livery has a full bar, privacy booth seating, outdoor patio seating and an extensive wine and port list. Our menu is a reflection of this same interpretation, with dishes including grilled venison, quail, lamb and local beef cuts like 2 inch bone-in rib eyes. The Livery is also fashioned with a unique military motif to honor our father Major General John B. Hirt USMC, who passed away in 2012. You'll find these military influences in our logo and other decorative treatments inside the restaurant.

Wow!

This is one of the top 3 food experiences I've ever had. The food is out of this world, wine pairing was fantastic and service was perfect. It's expensive but so worth the experience! This is a nice restaurant with beautiful decor and the right ambience. Food is mostly good. They had some problems getting orders right for a large group though. I would go back, but I would think twice about a large group, especially if anyone in the group has special food needs. This restaurant is recommended but with some caveats. I... More

I've had some very special dinners at the Livery and have never been disappointed with the taste of the food. The caesar salad is a great way to start with their additions of pine nuts and brussels sprouts that take it over the top. I have had a few main courses with the filet being my favorite. The best part,... More

Didn't really feel like leaving the confines of the comfy Greenbrier but did anything and it was a good thing, no a great thing. Very cozy interior with fireplace, attentive service, and some of the best food we've had in a while. Started with a lovely wild mushroom soup, followed by a caesar with crunchy brussel sprouts and pine nuts,... More

Lovely salad topped w/the best dressing ever & fried Brussels sprouts. The chicken was Devine and the fish cooked to perfection. The waitress was superb & so very friendly. The live small band was a plus to top the evening off. You owe it to yourself to dine at The Livery.

This is by far my favourite restaurant in Lewisburg! The decor is great, the bar brilliant. The menu is fabulous, the food superb. Add to that the best staff in town giving you great friendly service? I wish we had found this earlier on our visit as the outstanding meal we had I would love to repeat. Definitely recommended!

My sisters and I gathered in Lewisburg to spend some time together and went into The Livery without any expectations. The restaurant is lovely, warm and cozy. Everything ordered, from a meat and cheese plate to soup and oysters, was well prepared and presented. Our waiter was pleasant and added an element of fun to our meal.

Ok it is not cheap but it is worth every penny! The ambiance is upscale steak house feel. Our waiter(David) was excellent and had wide knowledge of the menu and food in general. I had the sweetbreads which were excellent. My wife had the beet salad which she loved. The waiter talked her into the beef filet which was perfectly... More
