A little slice of Mexico on the hood canal

I was staying down the road in alderbrook and didn't feel like subjecting the resort eatery to my screaming kid so we opted to try this Mexican gem down the street, and I wasn't disappointed. They have a large menu with something for everyone and the food was good. As the name would indicate they... read more

This restaurant was billed as an authentic Mexican restaurant and there was no reason to dispute that. However timing is everything. We happened to drop in for a bite early on a Sunday just as the Seattle Seahawks football game was ending, and in those final minutes (approximately 30) no staff member came near our table. When the game was... More

I have to admit that I was not happy with this restaurant the first time I visited. The 2nd time I was sick so that didn't count, but the past couple of visits have turned me into a regular. The portions are plentiful and authentic. The drinks are good and strong. I suggest going to the bar area as I... More

My friends and I love this restaurant every time we visit. Savory comfort food makes you feel you've traveled south to Mexico. Eat on the patio and watch the sailboats and herons and the water changing colors as the sun sets. Time slows down here. Except for food delivery! That is remarkably fast. Most of all we enjoy the staff.... More

My husband and I stopped by here for lunch yesterday (8/31). We were handed "Dinner" menus, which I thought sort of strange because the prices were sky high for lunchtime. Even though the room with the view of the water was mostly empty, we were seated at a booth in the dark entry area. We were served the trio of... More

Our group walked into the restaurant in this tiny community of Allyn around 1:00 pm and the place was empty. It seemed a little dark at first but then I became aware of the décor. It was an explosion of color and all things Mexican. The booths and high-back wooden chairs are painted with different scenes and various motifs in... More

As others have noted, this is one of the few restaurants in the Union area that isn't affiliated with the Alderbrook or Robin Hood resorts (those are great, but expensive). The location is good, but it doesn't take advantage of it's waterfront site. The windows face the highway, not the Canal. Décor is pretty typical American-Mexican: brightly painted, carved woods,... We treated some family and friends to a Saturday early lunch. The decor is bright and cheerful. Our service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. I pleased that even the picky eaters enjoyed something good to eat. The food was piping hot and delicious. My tamale was rectangular rather than the traditional corn-husk-wrap. It was too much mesa corn and not... More

The eclectic decor makes for a nice atmosphere. The salsa was excellent and the meal was very good as well.. fairly typical Mexican food. The prices are a bit high for what you get, but maybe that's typical for the area.
