My Favorite Breakfast Place

It has the feeling of a hippie joint from the seventies but definitely of this century. Mismatched chairs but great food. We love their huge pancakes with blueberries. These barely fit on the plate. I haven't been able to finish one yet. They are known for their great potatoes with choices of... read more

After all the reviews, I was expecting something equal or better to Kelly's Breakfast joint in Gig Harbor and decided to take my Uncle from Australia for a treat. It was noisy, crowded, and they don't allow parties to sit at a table unless they're all together. That's ok but when the only reason the party isn't together is because... More

Well I have walked by this place on my way to Legendary Doughnuts and it always looks busy. So I was in Tacoma this morning and thought I would give this breakfast hot spot a try. The service and feel of the place were fantastic the breakfast nothing special the link sausages were not good looked like the cheap little... More

Going out for breakfast is my favorite dining experience. There are many good choices in the Tacoma area, but this is one of the best. First, I like the atmosphere. Growing up in the area, this building was once a florist shop I often used buying flowers for proms and special occasions, so there is that nostalgia. The wait staff... More

Went for breakfast and was very disappointed. Service was nonexistent as we waited a very long time for someone to take our order and for our food to arrive. While we were waiting for someone to take our order, the boy who brought us water along with his “colleagues” were standing around either talking with each other or texting on... More

My Wife and I were out for a drive in the immediate area, when we noticed their sign indicating that they were serving "Breakfast". If your in their neck of the woods, and your driving to fast you'll miss it in the blink of an eye. My Wife had the pancake and eggs over the top, by the way one... More

I came here after finding out the restaurant we planned to go to was packed. Well it was a pleasant surprise to say the least! The pancakes was bigger than my plate, my bacon was crispy as requested, and the wait staff was incredibly friendly. I can't comment on the coffee, but the breakfast was definitely above average. I will... More

Went two mornings in a row. First day was good-- good food, good service. Second day was horrible. Food not as good as first day (two platters cold, one seemed thrown together), only one waitress for the entire restaurant (who seemed really annoyed ) Had to get up 4 times for water or coffee refill and continually have to wave... I visited Shakbrah for the first time recently on a Sunday morning. It opens at 8 (on Sundays, anyway), and serves a mean breakfast....omelettes, skillet dishes, etc. Very friendly service, fair prices, hot well-prepared dishes in large quantity. It's coffee house rustic which suits me just fine for casual dining. On one side of the restaurant, you order at a... More

Shakabrah has been here many years and has kept its delightful, funky charm. We've eaten here often and the portions are huge - we usually split an omelette since there's so much food. The table and chairs don't match and there are just a couple of booths but who cares? There's a larger room where they've expanded and they serve... More
