Best Vietnamese food in the area ...

This is about as close one can get to authentic Vietnamese food ... yes they do Americanized some of their dishes, but if you ask, they will prepare the dish authentically. Well, except if you want Pork Blood cubes for your Bun Bo Hue. Basically, they have Vietnamese classics, and of course... read more

I've tried to really want to love this restaurant over the years, but every time I'm finished with pho, minutes later my sinuses act up, head tingles down through my shoulders & spine. The flavor of the pho is wonderful. My question is do they use lots of MSG? Sorry if this offends anyone.

This place is our favorite, a true hidden gem. Very friendly service, and delicious savory food. Need a quick cheap lunch for 2? Split a bahn mi, and get a wonton soup each. Total: $10!

My daughter and I have been eating here for 20 years. The food has always been good and is authentic Vietnamese. Ask questions If you're not familiar with a dish.

Vien Dong is a restaurant that has been in the Tacoma area for a rather long time, and continues to deliver incredible food from a very varied menu. I think - though I couldn't swear to it - that it is family owned, but at the very least, it's got all the wonderful qualities that a non-chain restaurant is expected... More

This has been my hubby and my favorite lunch spot for years in Tacoma. The service is always very fast and friendly. No, it's not the fanciest place you've ever been, but if you get passed that you will be so happy that you did. You're going there for a superb meal, not over the top atmosphere. I have literally... All of the great reviews must be from the owners and their friends. This is the most unsanitary restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. I ordered the fresh spring roll and lemongrass chicken. The spring roll came with a hair on it and old shrimp and as soon as the rude old man set my plate down a baby... More

I just wanted to say...I live in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and I STILL crave Vien Dong sometimes! It's authentic food with great variety and flavor, and it's inexpensive!
