The Swiss is a Tacoma favorite conveniently located across the street from the extension campus of the University of Washington. The restaurant/bar offers pool, sports tv channels, great burgers, a variety of nicely portioned appetizers and a menu of music events ranging from blues to rock. Check website for calendar and happy hours that feature free pool. Kid friendly until... More

Visited based on tapadvisor.com recommendation. Excellent selection of beers. African Amber and Snowcap are great. I had the pan fried oysters and highly recommend them. The décor is authentic and there is Chihully glass on display (but not at eye level). I would like o know how old the bar is but it looks authentic. Will go again, soon.

A recent visit proved a disappointment for me and my dining companion. As customers from days gone by, neither of us found the newish menu or table service (we used to order at the register) was anything to crow about. Our server was overly faux-friendly in that way where endearments are used with complete strangers-ugh. The food is just average,... More

We went to this pub with our friends and were pleasently surprised at good beer and food. I tried their reuben sandwich and it was way above average. Beer was good and it was not crowed so we had a very nice time visiting with our friends. We will be back to this nice, friendly place. It is just across... More

The "Swiss" adorns itself with Swiss flags and emblems, but has nothing to do with Switzerland whatsoever! Don't be fooled by the name "Swiss". This is a misuse and usurpation of Swiss name & flags by this establishment. The food and beverages served here are not related to Switzerland in any way, neither in provenience, recipe nor quality wise. The... More

After starting a new job in Tacoma this was the first place I had lunch with my coworkers. Obviously they know where to get consistent good quality food! Located just south of the UWT campus in the ground floor of a funky old building it is obvious this is a place frequented by the locals. That said visitors can easily... More

The atmosphere was just okay, the food filled the plate but without flavor, the service awful, the value so-so. I was expecting much more. Maybe lunch and dinner are better.

We visited Swiss on a Wednesday evening. We sat ourselves and had to find our own menus. Our drinks arrived quickly (after one was spilled when the server tripped), but we waited 30 minutes before someone took our food order. It took another 50 minutes for the food to come, during which time we never saw a server. We even... More

We went early before a concert. Parking was really reasonable (compared to Seattle) and appeared to be free after 6. We were just killing time and stopped in to have a peek. Pool was free with a deposit of your ID and the bartender was great at helping me come up with a tasty low carb drink. The beer selection... More

We had excellent directions so the restaurant was easy to find. The food was excellent and served with a smile. Ambiance was also good. As this was our first stop and we had another 150 miles to go, we planned on returning on our last day but couldn't. We recommend this restaurant to all--not a tourist spot, more of a... More
