If you in Tacoma, you have to visit Elmer's for breakfast. The meals are large and filling. The Dutch baby is the best. Prices are reasonable. Service is typically slow, so be prepared to spend some time, but it is worth it.

Elmer's is a wonderful place to eat! Nothing fancy, but good "home cooking" with a very nice selection at a VERY reasonable price. The service was "home town" and sincerely dedicated to your enjoyment.. The manager on duty was a wonderful woman who was very pleasant and professional. Our waitress treated us like "family".
Food is great. Seemed to wait longer than advised for a table but they were very busy. Food also took more time than most restaurants but again may be due to being busy.

If you want to know how to ruin an omelett, go to Elmer's.

I ordered a "Looking for the Sun" omelett with obrien potatoes and a side of sourdough toast....

This is a chain, so if you're eaten at one you've seen them all. That said, we eat at a local Elmer's all the time and enjoy it quite a bit. Their Avocado Benedict is quite good.
I have had the German pancakes and they were great. But I must investigate more options. The manager on duty at the time overheard that we were first time goers and invited us with a return coupon, we shall do that for sure.
We picked this place as it was close to our hotel and the desk clerk said it was one of his parent's favorites. We were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was overly friendly and did everything to make the meal exceptional. The food was above standard for a coffee shop type restaurant. Don't miss Ivars clam chowder-it is the best I...

Yummy! If you have never had on of the huge brimming German pancakes here you are missing a treat. This pancakes is similar to a crepe except it's huge and the perimeter rises up over the pan its cooked in (shaped kind of like a meteor crater). I would never have thought to eat a pancake with lemon until I...
