Staying overnight in Tacoma for my daughters fencing tournament, she wanted seafood, so we asked the hotel for suggestions. Once we saw the menu on their website we knew this is were we wanted to go. Nice atmosphere located on Puget Sound. If you can't decide which of the 5 chowders to choose, order the full boat sampler. It is... More

Good food and atmosphere with pleasant and efficient staff. Blackened black cod tacos are tasty but you had better be hungry if you choose the full order of 3! And the chowder...after all it IS a chowder house and they do it right. Went on a football weekend Friday night at 6 and wait was only about 10 min. Perfect... More

My family and I had a lovely lunch outside at Duke's in August. I had the chowder and caesar salad. I loved both. Waiter was friendly and attentive. We couldn't have asked for more.

Be sure to have the chowder, but beware that servings are large. Our salmon dinners were great and we had enough left over to enjoy them for lunch the next day.

Duke's is always fun, but is at it's best on a warm day & the deck can be enjoyed. The happy hour menu is fun and a good value served 3-6 & after 9 in the bar & on the deck. My wife enjoyed a Bloody Mary served with 2 grilled shrimp in a neat glass. I had a Old... More

Had lunch there on a Sunday, having fish & chips and hubby having crab sandwich with clam chowder. Chowder was great, sandwich OK, the fish & chips were not at all greasy and the servings were ample. The sourdogh bread was great as well. Our server was friendly & attentive.

When traveling, I really enjoy frequenting restaurants favored by locals. Duke's is one of those great local hangouts. Located right on the water, we enjoyed some of the best chowder I've had anywhere (and that says a lot :-). We went for happy hour and took advantage of discounted prices. We also had a fantastic halibut fillet stuffed with crab... More

Went there because Johnny's closes between lunch and dinner (and the website didn't mention it!). Duke's staff were very pleasant and accommodated our request to sit at the bar the first time. Went back a second time to try the food - waitress was very helpful and informative. They have a good happy hour menu with a great selection of... More

Hoping for better than it was. Great location and wonderful views! Had chowder sampler: very small portions. Food appeared to be pre-cooked as it came out immediately. Rockfish: small portions of red potatoes and snap peas. Salad: pawns very small portion. Excellent hot sour dough bread. Great waitress. We sat at the bar while waiting for a table. They were... We took our entire family here for a birthday celebration - 10 of us! The restaurant was so accommodating. Everyone's meal was delivered at the same time and our server was a sweetie. Everyone was very attentive throughout the meal. Food was good but a little skimpy. All in all it was a great time!
