I like Dukes for happy hour and for dinner. The happy hour menu has a lot of the dinner items priced really we'll. Drinks are good, too, but the service has been hit or miss. Some of the servers are attentive and thoughtful and some seem to just flat out ignore people.

I am hard to impress but this place did it. Took simple food over the top in taste and presentation. Wonderful wedge salad with perfect blue cheese dressing and fresh blackberries. The halibut ceviche was okay, it lacked depth of flavor as it was overpowered by too much lime. Crab cakes, calamari and clam strips were excellent and the chowder... More

Very good meal and great view! Duke's always hits the mark! Service is great, food always great. Try to sit by the window or outside.

If you can get there in time for happy hour (before 6:00pm) try to get seated on the deck on a beautiful summer evening and enjoy the awesome view of Commencement Bay and the great prices on the HH menu. Calamari strips are tender and comes with Asian coleslaw AND a Parmesan bowl. Yum. The chocolate eclair was the perfect... More

Duke's is located on the bay west of downtown Tacoma, with views of the working port area, Puget Sound, and Mt. Rainier in the distance. The day was gorgeous, with clear skies and sunshine. Food is inventive and fresh, drinks interesting, and service outstanding. The signature chowder deserves its reputation. Sample-sized cups of the five chowders are available; they are... More

Great location and easy parking at lunchtime. It was rather warm so a view table inside was perfect, but the food was very average and overpriced. Food was very bland and somewhat disappointing.

First, the view here is awesome. Maybe their prices are helping to pay for the view. Their chowder is very good but don't bother with a bread bowl. Your getting about 25% of chowder and the rest is chowder. $13 for a bowl of chowder?? That's crazy. To save money, come during happy hour. A bowl is $9.95 then. Had... More

Went there for dinner after reading some of the good reviews. We have been to other dukes locations and enjoyed them ( Hawaii California). This dukes was a huge disappointment, food was mediocre at best. cod & Chips were small portions and not very tasty. The 8 oz pan seared halibut was ok at best but a tad over cooked... More

It was the day before I was riding in the Seattle to Portland Bike Ride, and I decided to pay a visit here with some friends for lunch, there was a 15 minute wait to sit outside, obviously it was a really sunny day in Tacoma, but we ended up sitting inside where there was air conditioning and only a... OK, I didn't try the chowder (shame, shame, I know), but don't fault me; it was one of the few 90-degree days in Tacoma! Instead I went with an ice-cold brew and the salmon slider app. Hit happy hour and this place gets even better. I haven't been to a happier happy hour in quite some time. The salmon sliders... More
