We love eating in small town restaurants. We saw the Sunshine Cafe as we drove by. It was exactly what we were looking for. It wasn't lunch hour but there were a few other patrons at other tables. We were served our drinks immediately by the hostess. However, we began to worry when the waitress took quite a bit of... More

Having been in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years in Santa Cruz, CA working in and managing some of the busiest and most popular restaurants there: the old Santa Cruz Hotel/Bar and Grill, Carniglia's, Cardinale's, and the Edgewater, I think I come from a fairly knowledgeable place to provide a review of the Sunshine Cafe. My husband and... More

The food was not hot when it came to the table. The service was marginal at best. We had to flag down the server when we needed assistance and the price for the quality of the food was excessive. Both my friend and I felt cheated.

The place is small, cozy, and pleasant! One of us had breakfast, and two of us had sandwiches. All meals were good and satisfying. I had the grilled salmon sandwich, which was delicious!

Stopped in for lunch. Food was pretty uninspired. Took us forever to make a choice since there was nothing special or unique to the area. I finally ordered a salad and soup. What I got was cold salad straight from the refrigerator (where it had been sitting since the early morning, drying out), chowder was ok. Service was good but... More

Terrific cafe with fast, very friendly service. It's fairly expected offerings in terms of menu and quality, but the standouts are the fresh ground coffee and fresh baked pecan rolls, and pancakes with smiley faces cooked in. A pleasant breakfast experience surrounded by local old timers.

We had lunch and I had two eggs, hash browns, and toast. My wife has a grilled cheese and fries. The bill before tip was over $16, which we saw as slightly pricey. The food was average and the service was good. The place was basically empty at lunch time, which should have told us something. There are better choices... More

Everything we had was fresh, from the french fries to the salad dressings. Not fancy food but it does make a difference when food is not frozen pre-made stuff. Kids under 10 eat for free!!

I've complimented the "Sunny" before, but feel the need to call attention to the exceptional revision to their menu. Larger, more descriptive, easier to scan and with some new dishes, this change makes this Sequim institution even better! Further, the use of graphic symbols with key dishes--gluten free, no dairy, low-cal, Angus beef--allows those with dietary restrictions to quickly scan... More

We stopped by with friends for lunch today, and we're glad to have found seating. As we ate, group after group of customers came and left, because there was no room, no seating. It really seems like the cafe is THE spot with locals. The service was excellent, but I'd have to honestly say the food was average. I had... More
