Good, But Not Great

Honestly, I gave this place a 4 based on the ambiance and the staff, not the food. The food was average to good, but not great and certainly not up to the prices, which are high. That being said, the hostess was charming and the waitress was a delight. So all in all a good meal.

This restaurant is VERY expensive. Our bill was $275 for a party of 5 and we only bought 1 cheap ($21) bottle of wine. My salmon was over-salted and served with a beefy mushroom sauce that belonged with steak; I scraped it off but could only eat about 2 oz of the salmon anyway. I had to cut off the... More

Many a trips to Long beach/Seaview to work. Had always missed this place before. So sad I had because they have the best food around. If you look a reviews for Long Beach, every place is way below what the Depot offers. Excellent fresh 5 star dishes and huge wine selection as well. They do take reservations. We walked in... More

The Depot was a pleasant surprise during our recent trip to the Long Beach peninsula. We went expecting a good meal and got a great one. The staff were all very friendly and eager to take good care of us. The menu was broad enough that we could each find something that interested us and the food was great. If... More

I loved this restaurant from the time I opened the door and I was met with a warm genuine welcome. We didnt have reservations but were lucky enough to snag one if the two remaining free tables. The steak I had was nothing less than perfection and I felt compelled to give the cook my compliments who, unbeknownst to me,... More

This place was recommended by a Portland Chef and we went there staying in Astoria,OR for an 80th birthday party. The Depot Restaurant in this little town provided an excellent variety of food in a quality usually found only in large cities, coupled with good service, and ambiance for casual dining all was enjoyed. They offered a good wine selection and... More

Charming inside and out with authentic character. The bar and stools feel like they've been there a hundred years. Bistro style dining and great atmosphere. Staff was knowledgable about the wines and menu. Fresh food, great wine and enjoyable dining. Definitely a must for dining in a great space.

My husband and I were staying in Cannon Beach. It's a lovely drive from there to The Depot Restaurant. It takes about an hour but driving across the Astoria Bridge is so much fun! Especially in the evening. This is our 2nd time to eat at The Depot, and we'll probably make it an annual tradition of ours. We live... More

We had a wonderful dinner here tonight. Everyone was very friendly and the food was top notch. We had the Salmon special, it was cooked perfectly and sauce was amazing. I'm glad we made reservations as most tables had reserved signs on them, so be sure to make a reservation! You don't want to miss this great food!

I have eaten at several places on the Long Beach peninsula. This was the best, though the now-defunct Ark restaurant was also excellent, and the 42nd Street Cafe was also very good. Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Depot - appetizers, salad, main course and dessert. Because we were a large group, we were limited to 4 entrees,... More
