I am a long time customer of the Public House, but have been very disappointed by the last two meals we have eaten (October-December 2014). The place has really declined over the past year. Their signature corn chowder has turned into a pasty glob of corn starch. My crab cake sandwich tasted like a Costco frozen entree. We won't be... More

Great large pub restaurant right on the main drag of downtown. Teas were amazing and poutine was a noble effort. Soup was just what we needed for a cold day and all the sandwiches were well seasoned and tasty

The atmosphere in the Public House is very relaxing and enjoyable. Nice to come here for a meal or a drink and a snack. Their food is very tasty (I love the fried calamari and they have some delicious salads too, the hummus plate is also really yummy, great fried fish and chips). This is a good place to go... More

We had been here several times and were looking forward to another visit. We should have realized when we weren't acknowledged for five minutes after we arrived that something wasn't working right. First mistake. Finally another customer went off to find a staff member. There was one large table seated in the restaurant at the time of our arrival and... More

Visited the Public House on a chilly October evening when most people decided to stay warm in doors! Warm and friendly greeting when we arrived for a table we had booked earlier. Dining area was quite busy and the meal we ordered arrived quickly. Good atmosphere with a couple of musicians entertaining the clientele on guitar and base. Worth a... More

Had a couple of beer & a nice meal at the Public House Grill. It was next to our hotel so no walking at all. Interesting place with some history.

Having had unhelpful staff at Sirens up the street, we came down to this place for our dinner and it was pretty darn good. The staff were not overly friendly but they were not rude or hostile and they took care of us. The food is fairly pricey but ballpark for an upper-edge sit-down restaurant in this town at average... This place went beyond with a great waitress that was very informed about gluten free diets. the steamed shellfish was excellent and came with a gluten free bun. She even found me a gluten free cider. my husband had the best fish and chips not gluten free of our 2 week trip. Worth the visit.

Really enjoyed lunch and the atmosphere is wonderful. Old wooden Bar, tin ceiling and a good selection of beers. Wait staff was very friendly and did not smoother you at the table. Relax enjoy a brew and watch the people walk by.
