Food in a pinch

We happened upon this restaurant when we were attending a small music show in the area. We were unable to get into the show and decided to find some thing to eat. It was a busy weekend in Port Townsend. Places were packed and with long waits. When we came to the Public House Grill we were greeted... read more

They have excellent fresh cut Halibut Fish and Chips we get them every time we visit Port Townsend. Paper lined tables so you can draw on them is fun.

Had great fish (hand cut halibut) in the Public House on Water Street in Port Townsend. They let you choose 1, 2 or 3 pieces. 1 piece each was plenty for my wife and I. The slaw that they served was also very good. Not sweet like many cole slaws - more on the savory side. With on piece of... More

We went there for lunch and while the decor was interesting, the place didn't have the cleanest feel to it. Prices were a little high in our opinions for the food. We ended up getting the steamed shellfish appetizer and two cups of chowder with clam. The chowder was a gooey, starchy I don't know what with the crab just... More

I was here 2 years ago in the fall and remember the great soup for lunch. Back this weekend, we tried it for dinner. I had the porterhouse cut pork chop with a shallot, whole grain mustard cream sauce with potatoes and broccoli for $20. The mashed potatoes rolled in panko and deep fried were slightly bland but the chop... More

The high ceilings and exposed A-frame make for a very pleasant ambiance. Local art is displayed on the walls and maritime paraphernalia hanging from the rafters. The trout pasta dish was good, but the salmon was better. Service by the waitstaff was excellent.

We visited the Public House on New Years Eve.Our mistake was not booking as most restaurants were full. This one was less than half full which should have been a clue.Upon entering hit with a very noisy entertainment group of 3 people which meant moving twice to hear my wife.Several tables waiting indicating slow orders so ask if ours could... The place was full the food was good... order the mac n cheese off the kids menu as an appetizer. I'm convened that they forgot or lost our order. People came in at the same time ate and we're almost ready to leave when we got our food. Thankfully we were old friends and had much to talk about.

I am a long time customer of the Public House, but have been very disappointed by the last two meals we have eaten (October-December 2014). The place has really declined over the past year. Their signature corn chowder has turned into a pasty glob of corn starch. My crab cake sandwich tasted like a Costco frozen entree. We won't be... More
