The Calico Cupboard is one of my favorite places to eat in Mount Vernon. It has a nice atmosphere, the staff is friendly and the food is a healthy alternative to the chain restaurants. Our family has celebrated a birthday dinner there, and it is our go to spot when we have out of town guests. more

This has to be the most over-rated restaurant I have ever been to. Very ordinary menu, ordinary/thrown together presentation, and non-smiling service. Yeah, I guess it's "organic" and "prepared fresh" daily, but guess what? It isn't very good and neither is the service. Why bother? Denny's blows this place away. more

Great sandwiches and soup! Prices are higher than I expected for a "Cafe". Service is slow and our waitress had low social skills. She didn't even ask us how our food was or if we wanted dessert. Try the Washington Turkey Sandwich. It is honestly one of the best sandwiches ever made. If you feel like getting a home cooked meal type of atmosphere with a hint of eating in the country this is a perfect breakfast and lunch spot! more

Vegetarian and organic riendly. Great bakery with homemade breads and muffins. The hours change seasonally, so check before you go. A little pricey for casual dining, but great for a special treat. more

As Rachel Ray would say "YUMMO". This bakery is darling and you can buy stuff to go or sit and enjoy a meal. Their bakery items are wonderful for breakfast or a snack. The quiche was also very good. more
