The Roanoke is a Mercer Island classic. Grab a table on the patio or porch weather permitting. Typical American fare for the most part with some Tex-Mex thrown in for good measure. It's been around for 100 years so they must be doing something right. There aren't a lot of choices on Mercer Island and this is one of my... More

The Roanoke -- "Rowy" -- has been around for over a hundred years. It preceded any bridge to M.I. It was up the hill from where the ferry docked. It has good cold beer and pub food. The Friday night fish and chips are particularly good.

But... Lots of locals go there . It's not that clean, bathrooms are filthy, the eating area is like going to something out of a bad movie. I still go there ....! Crazy huh?

One of our favorite places to meet and hangout. Love the summer outdoor areas. A little noisy and crowded inside but, hey, that's the atmosphere. Food, drinks, and service very good but not great. wish they had a happy hour - but they are so busy they figure they don't need it. I'm a draft beer lover and their selection... More

Had lunch at the Roanoke today. I like the history and atmosphere, but the food isn't as good as I remember over the past four decades. Service was good.

It's always nice to find a place with genuine character that didn't come out of a restaurant designers note book. Nothing fancy, odd shaped rooms all joined together, old stuff, plastic covered menus, rock music, bearded servers. Reminded me a lot of pubs in Edinburgh, Scotland. The food was basic but good, lots of choice of beers, fantastic atmosphere, good... More

I've been going to the Roanoke for more than 10 years. We go to have a nice relaxing meal with drinks and friends. The tables on the porch and in the back yard are my favorite, but of course they are usually only worth using in the warmer months. But the atmosphere on the porch is great. Drinks are made... More

I’ve been to the Roanoke Inn many times over the last twenty years, and I still don’t get it. Ask its patrons about the Roanoke, and you will invariably hear words like ‘institution’ and ‘landmark,’ by which they mean that the Roanoke has been in business for a very long time (since 1914, actually). Grandfathered into its current location long... More

This place has been here forever and never let's you down. I think that the food has gotten better over the years. Summer is a better time to visit and sit on the porch or the courtyard, but a winter visit with some delicious comfort food won't let you down either.

One of the only places on Mercer Island that serves a weekend brunch. Prices are average, portions are fairly decent and the ambiance is that of a traditional 'public house.' Summers are great with the outdoor seating and partial water view from the side patio.
