This family-owned business has been bringing Bavaria to Leavenworth for over 25 years. The chef, Anita Hamilton, has been personally overseeing the kitchen since 1991 and is a native of Germany. The made-from-scratch desserts, soups and entrees are reminiscent of traditional Gasthaus fare. The owner, Heidi Forchemer, travels to Germany yearly for new menu ideas. Her son, Max, can be heard playing his button accordion most weekends, along with other local musicians, such as Tom Tilton of the Alpenfolk band. It simply doesn't get more authentic than this!

Still good

We've been a few times now over the years. Good if you like German food. Schnitzel or cordon Bleu are my favorites along with their mustard. We always buy a jar or two to take home till our next visit. Worth a fun meal every year we visit.

If you are looking for an upbeat casual bistro experience you'll have a great time at Andreas Keller! Saturday night has live accordion music playing. From the host in his lederhosen to the waitresses in their dirndls, they all shared a friendly outgoing manner. On a busy Saturday night we were able to get a great table without waiting too... My husband and I came to Leavenworth to celebrate our birthdays. We had dinner at a mediocre restaurant. My taste buds were crying for Black Forest cake and not the imitation with coconut. After walking around almost the entire town asking if anyone knew where to find this delicious dessert, no one knew. We decided to almost go home until... More

There are many other Bavarian style restaurants to choose from. This one was OK but expensive. And the portions were small at least for what we ordered. There was live music but the musician seemed bored and not entertaining. It kind of detracted from the atmosphere. The service was good though.

We went by the restaurant in the early afternoon to check out the menu and the host recommended we call the restaurant 3 hours ahead of the anticipated dinner time to place our names on a wait list. This was the best thing! When we got there, we only waited a short while before we got a table. Food is... More

We arrived close to 2 on a weekend and the Leavenworth streets were quite busy. Worried that we would have an extended wait for any restaurant. This restaurant located in a basement was a pleasant surprise. Not only were we seating immediately, but drinks and food arrived in a timely manner. I had never eaten authentic german food before and... More

The Chef cooked for nuns in her younger days and their lost is Leavenworth's gain. We had several items and the table was quiet. Except for the occasional moans of approval at tasting true German sausages. The cabbage (sweet and sour), was met with the same exuberance. The sitting arrangement also is reminiscent of many a German restaurant in Germany.

Thank you very much for your amazing 5-star review! Andreas Keller has been my favorite, go-to restaurant in Leavenworth for more than 15 years, but after last night's visit, I'm not sure I will return. For atmosphere, Andreas Keller can't be beat, and we had Wiener Schnitzel last night which was remarkable, as always. However, a meal which used to include rot kohl and spatzle is not accompanied by... More

I want to thank you for your recent visit. I'm not sure exactly what to say about your review. "Your feelings are important to me" is a good start. I have owned the Andreas Keller for over 20 years, and have worked there since the day we opened, over 26 years ago. We serve our pork Wiener Schnitzel the way... More
