Just OK

This is an odd one. Some of the food was really good (red cabbage, spaetzle), while the main dish was extremely dry. If the beef did not have gravy with it, it would have been hard to get down. It had a good flavor, just hard to eat. It seemed like precooked, reheated food. The beer was very good... read more

Being from Munich, Germany, we come to Leavenworth every now and then so that I can experience a piece of home in the US. A couple of days ago, we decided to give the King Ludwig's a try. This was the worst German food I have ever had in my life!!! We ordered a platter for two and Käsespätzle. The... More

Had a great lunch here while in Leavenworth. The service was top notch. We chose to sit in the beer garden where it was a little more casual compared to the dining room. Oh and be sure to order a nice cold German beer

The guy playing the accordion was a neat touch but that was basically the only good thing about this place. The food was terrible, and for the most part had no taste. I doubt the wife and I would ever go back.

The service was mediocre, the food was worse. Dry piece of meat, a sorry excuse for sauerbraten, with a crappy pasty microwaved sauce on top. Authentic looking interior couldn't make up for lousy food. The beer was good, but it took forever to get a waitress, and there were not a very many people in there. Don't bother with this... More

This was highly recommended by staff at World Mark not to be missed. Even gave us a coupon. Service was very bad, only making it worse was the food. We ordered brats and a few other things, kraut was horrid. Asked for hot tea as it was freezing inside - we were the only ones there. Got a cup of... More

Pro's: authentic atmosphere, good service Con's: The food was mediocre at best, expensive, small mugs of beer Let me start by saying I have lived in Germany previously for three years so I was very excited to go to Leavenworth. Without looking around much King Ludwig's was the restaurant we chose when we first arrived. I got the Wiener schnitzel... More

This is the place we chose for a traditional meal here in Leavenworth. The man playing the accordion was a lot of fun but for starters the wine was awful. Then when dinner arrived the roasted chicken was the driest I've ever encountered. I gave it an average because my husbands meal was okay.

I went with family and was rather disappointed at the quality and lack of authenticity of the schnitzel and red cabbage. The atmosphere, with its cute interior and live accordion music, was more enjoyable than the food.
