Pro's: authentic atmosphere, good service Con's: The food was mediocre at best, expensive, small mugs of beer Let me start by saying I have lived in Germany previously for three years so I was very excited to go to Leavenworth. Without looking around much King Ludwig's was the restaurant we chose when we first arrived. I got the Wiener schnitzel... More

This is the place we chose for a traditional meal here in Leavenworth. The man playing the accordion was a lot of fun but for starters the wine was awful. Then when dinner arrived the roasted chicken was the driest I've ever encountered. I gave it an average because my husbands meal was okay.

I went with family and was rather disappointed at the quality and lack of authenticity of the schnitzel and red cabbage. The atmosphere, with its cute interior and live accordion music, was more enjoyable than the food.

The dining area is/was enjoyable, with the 4-piece polka band. But you don't feel like you are in Germany in the least bit, save for waitresses in traditional garb. Honestly, it has more of a grange hall in a rural community feel to it. Not horrible, but very much not in keeping with other establishments in town. I wish I... More

We normally eat at Andreas down the street, but they were closed for renovations, so we decided to try somewhere we had never ate at before.... German food in a town dedicated to a German theme needs to go the extra mile to make sure that what they serve is excellent quality. On this night, it wasn't. I ordered what... More

probably best value in town. Fun Hofbräuhaus banners and young King Ludwig, not as crowded as some of the wilder and more hip breweries in town, but much better for conversation. Serves the genuine pork knuckles, Rothenburg style at a much better price than other places.

The menu says they specialize in Bavarian dishes and have International kitchen staff. The staff must be from Vietnam, Mexico or Joe's catfish house in Tupelo Mississippi cause the meal I ordered was definetly not German tasting by any stretch of the tongue. I was born and lived in Germany and love German food from every corner of Germany. We... More

We split a Schweinshax’n dinner. This is a unique pork dish. You can see it on the rotisserie in the window. We ate in a large room where there were a lot of tables and a musician playing songs like 'Edelweiss' on the according. It was a fun and unique experience.

We loved Leavenworth but had only a short time to visit. We decided to have lunch at King Ludwig's. There were only three other tables with patrons. We had some typical German fare, which was all very good, but a little pricey. I really expected more food for what we paid. But, it was still a nice experience, the decor... More
