Fun But Misses the Mark...

The dining area is/was enjoyable, with the 4-piece polka band. But you don't feel like you are in Germany in the least bit, save for waitresses in traditional garb. Honestly, it has more of a grange hall in a rural community feel to it. Not horrible, but very much not in keeping with other... read more

We normally eat at Andreas down the street, but they were closed for renovations, so we decided to try somewhere we had never ate at before.... German food in a town dedicated to a German theme needs to go the extra mile to make sure that what they serve is excellent quality. On this night, it wasn't. I ordered what... More

probably best value in town. Fun Hofbräuhaus banners and young King Ludwig, not as crowded as some of the wilder and more hip breweries in town, but much better for conversation. Serves the genuine pork knuckles, Rothenburg style at a much better price than other places.

The menu says they specialize in Bavarian dishes and have International kitchen staff. The staff must be from Vietnam, Mexico or Joe's catfish house in Tupelo Mississippi cause the meal I ordered was definetly not German tasting by any stretch of the tongue. I was born and lived in Germany and love German food from every corner of Germany. We... More

We split a Schweinshax’n dinner. This is a unique pork dish. You can see it on the rotisserie in the window. We ate in a large room where there were a lot of tables and a musician playing songs like 'Edelweiss' on the according. It was a fun and unique experience.

We loved Leavenworth but had only a short time to visit. We decided to have lunch at King Ludwig's. There were only three other tables with patrons. We had some typical German fare, which was all very good, but a little pricey. I really expected more food for what we paid. But, it was still a nice experience, the decor... More

Although the restaurant was only half full, we were ignored by all the servers for about 15 minutes. When we were finally able to flag one down, she denied she was our server and said that she would let someone know. Ten more minutes go by. My husband finally hunted down a menu and then 1 minute later the same... More

My family and I went here for dinner on a Friday night. We ended up being the only table in the place. The decor and food are what I would want and expect from a German restaurant. The irritating part was the service was so bad, they refilled our water one time but only for half of the table. There... More

Ludwigs is a very family friendly restaurant and would be perfect for large groups. They serve typical German style food. However the food was over priced and not the best place for couples. We stopped for the German food and to get out of the cold. Okay experience not my favorite.

For the price, I was a bit disappointed. The food was bland other than the sauerkraut. The spaetzle in particular was flavorless. The family platter is your biggest bang for your buck here.
