Coming from southern California, I was skeptical of this (very popular) latin food joint in the middle of the main strip in Leavenworth, WA. The burrito I ordered was fair. I would go back for the guacamole and pico de gallo. I would have enjoyed a salsa that packed a little more heat, but that wasn't available.

The food is good, but expensive for Mexican. I was really put off that they charge for chips. At least I thought that there would be free refills on the chips, but no. There is occasionally entertainment out back in the summertime.

Whether you like South will depend on your priorities. If you are tired of German food, have time to spare, and are blessed with the patience of Job, you might enjoy South. if you have children, are hungry, or enjoy true Latin American cuisine, you probably won't. First, the food. It's OK. It's mostly an odd mix of Mexican food... More

Fast service. Delicious food. Really tasty seafood and non meat entrees/apps available. Try the "hop, skip and go naked" you will not be disappointed.

Small establishment but very good food and drinks. We arrived around 4:30 PM without a reservation. Already the restaurant was quite full. We were told around 30-40 minutes for a table. We spied space up at the bar and was informed it was first come first-first served. After sitting down, was glad we arrived when we did. It was getting... More

In spite of being very busy, the service was very attentive! The warm tortilla chips and salsa are yummy, but they're a bit skimpy on the guacamole. The medium salsas are plenty hot enough and the verde one is the best. The wet burrito with the chicken and sweet potato enchilada were excellent and flavorful.

We have visited South three times now in the last year. We always "pay extra" for chips because the salsa is some of the best we have found in WA. Service is efficient. We have never been in when the tables weren't all full and this visit was no exception. We are small people and don't eat a whole lot... More

This is a very casual south of the border restaurant. The flour tortilla chips were fantastic along with the guacamole. There was a charge for the chips but they were worth it. Prices are average. My husband had the steak tacos and they were tasty but very small. I had the Pork Carnitas and it was very tasty with the... More

Awesome drinks and the chips and guacamole are must do starters. The Basil Daisy margarita was fresh and well balanced with the chili sugar rim. I had the Vegetarian Rellano and it was tasty with just the right heat.

South was recommended by a coworker whose family lives in Leavenworth. Yummy food and cool atmosphere.
