Nell Thorn's has a solid reputation for good food, and you won't be disappointed. Their new location is central to the town of La Conner. A decent ambience. However, although the food is high quality and interestingly presented, the main detraction is the choice of background music. Too loud techno-music may be fine in a bar, but clashes with the... Nell Thorn used to be located a block away in a two story converted house. That eclectic charm cannot be maintained in a new, larger restaurant-that's unfortunate. They moved to a much larger building on the water and are now 10 times as big as they were. The view is excellent, the parking is MUCH better! The food is very... More

This may be a great little pub, but don't expect to have a fine dining experience. The problem is the prices are fine dining prices. We started with crab cakes which were very good and our hopes were high for the main course. However, our $40 steaks were tough and difficult to even get the steak knife through. The service... More

I've had good meals at this place before, but tonight we had to send my husbands dinner back because it was cold. The big problem though, was his steak dinner was 27.95 and they charged us $37.95 and then MY scallops were supposed to be $34 and I was charged $39! The waitress re did the bill, but even then... Visiting from Vancouver BC we were informed that the Nell Thorn WAS the place to go. We arrived on time at 7:45 and were seated in the view channel room. Our waitress was quite shy and not overly informed regarding the specific details in the menue selection. For example; I enquired about the steaks which were stated as "grass fed"... More

We had excellent food, ling cod & steak and sides, steamer clams to start, all the food was excellent. Our server was great, attentive but not overly so. Had one of the specialty drinks and was surprised at how good it was, not always a fan of ginger but it was very refreshing and not overdone. The one item that... More

Our experience at Nell Thorn was somewhat disappointing. While the food was good (we had great grilled calamari, house salads, King salmon over shredded veggies which was light and fresh, and pan sautéed oysters which were good but needed a sauce other than a heavy mayonnaise aioli. The mashed potato side was dull but the fresh mandolin sliced veggies delightful).... More

I spent my 50th anniversary at this waterside eatery, most of the menue is seafood oriented. Found the food the be very good but not falling over great. The staff were very accomodating, the service very good and efficient, the wait time reasonable and the over all experience ( partly due to being with lady that I have loved for... More

We sat outside on the dock overlooking the water with an umbrella for sun protection. I was delighted with the smelt - took me back to childhood memories. And it was absolutely delicious!

Service was slow but the food was worth the wait. My husband says this was the best oyster burger he's ever had. My fried oysters and curry/carrot soup was delicious and other meals I saw go by looked very good. I would recommend sitting out on the patio as it overlooks the channel.
