Great Food, Great Folks, Fun town

Consistently great food, mostly locally sourced ingredients. Menu specials are always a good choice to try. Waterfront seating seasonally is a real bonus. Friendly staff. And such a quaint little town of shops to walk and enjoy.

We were very well cared for when we were seated for a late dinner. The bistro was quite loud and we promptly asked is we could move do to a hearing challenge for the both of us. The staff got us moved right away and provide excellent service throughout the meal. The King salmon and duckling were great.

This is clearly a popular place for dinner; when we left at 8.45pm it was still going strong and as we walked back to the hotel, we walked past other restaurants that had already closed. I'm a picky eater, and had problems with the menu. Everything on it seemed to end up with one thing included that I didn't like,... More

I have reviewed Nell Thorn before shortly after it moved from its former location to the new one on the channel. It had teething problems then, particularly the horribly uncomfortable dining chairs with which they had furnished the dining room. Our party of four became so "cushion conscious" from the hard wooden seats that we had trouble enjoying our meal.... More

The salmon salad was terrific. Very flavorful, moist salmon accompanied golden beets and generous portion of well-dressed salad greens. Tasty and healthy, both. My husband's shoestring potatoes didn't have a smidgen of extra oil and he reviewed his lamb burger positively. The fries were truly outstanding.

We were visiting La Conner for the weekend and tried the lamb burgers here and they were the best we have had in long time. Service was very good and we felt relaxed. Nicely presented, fresh dishes. We will be back!

This was the first restaurant that we walked by after first arriving in La Conner. We were hungry and it looked nice so we went inside. It was quite busy but we were seated fairly quickly at a table with a beautiful view of the water. All of the food was locally grow. The menu was small but very interesting... More

Apparently Nell Thorn is a locals favorite and had been around for quite a few years. It is in a new location by the waterfront. The atmosphere is upscale casual. You get a sense of quality without an attitude. We stopped in during happy hour & shared an order of the crispy wings. They are, as the menu states, spicy,... More

Highly overpriced. $15 for a rueben sandwich, though they dont' call it that. Oyster chowder wasn't any better than any other chowder I've had. All the food is organic though, so I suppose that is why the prices are so high. Fries were good, home made, and stayed crunchy even after they got cold. Doubt I'll ever go back, just... More

The cocktails were very nice, the food was fine, not amazing. The oysters I ordered had a lot of shell in them (maybe a new person was shucking?). I liked the beers on tap, and the decor was really pretty, a little fancy, but really pretty. I also really enjoyed the noise level--not hard to hear in a big group... More
