Great sushi, very authentic atmosphere

I found this place while on business and staying at the hotel across the street. I went in by myself and sat at the sushi bar. The sushi chef was very warm and welcoming and the sushi was even better. Only issue was I ordered too much! Each piece was 2x what I expected but fish was incredible. I... read more

My family has eaten here many times since they opened 30 years ago. Izumi is by far our favorite authentic Japanese restaurant! The food is delicious, and is presented beautifully. The staff is wonderful; two of the ladies have been working there since they first opened, and still wear the lovely traditional kimonos. It's a long drive from where we... More

Our favorite sushi place. Small, friendly and full at mealtimes. I love the teriyaki black cod which as a dinner comes with miso soup and sunomono and minimal salad with ginger or onion dressing, There are so many options: soups, noodles, tempura, rolls and wooden boatloads of sushi

After returning to the states from living in Japan for 12 years, it's been hard to find truly fresh sushi and authentic Japanese food (though the latter has been easier than the former). The fish is very fresh at Izumi and you can tell they take pride in their high quality dishes. Slightly more expensive than other places and not... More

The owner is a master and an artist of the first tier! He takes pride is the quality, variety and presentation. You will not be disappointed if you stop in here.

This is an unassuming neighborhood restaurant, not an upscale restaurant, but I'd say its value is a lot better than more expensive places like Nishino. I had sashimi platter here and Nishino's and Izumi easily outdid Nishino in quality and variety. Good job! We will be returning.

Lived in Japan for a decade and have struggled since to find decent Japanese food in the Seattle area. This place is our family favorite. True authentic Japanese cuisine and home cooking style. We leave fully satisfied with every visit. Sushi, bento, noodles, tempura... it's all good and always authentic. I'm going to go out on a limb and say... More

You'll be happy if you make reservations. Service was a little slow, but we had a party of 5 on a busy night. Very tasty and authentic! Order many items and share! Every dish we had was was spot on.

We knew it was going to be good when there was already a waiting line early on a Friday evening & most of the people ahead of us were speaking Japanese. The food was excellently prepared & beautifully served. The butterfish & salmon portions were very generous. We look forward to returning soon.

I read some reviews on this place, so had high expectations. When we walked in, on a Tues eve, it was bustling, so, again, I had high expectations. the sushi was delicious-extrememy fresh, but a tad stingy on the fish. I had teriyaki chicken ala carte-which was tasty...pretty typical. My friends ordered a noodle bowl which was disappointing-no vegetables-basically some... More
