We were directed by locals to go to The Boarding House on our visit to Issaquah. We were so glad we did. The restaurant is located in Gilman Shopping area, about 2 minutes from downtown. It was a lovely restaurant, old time feel with nice tables for outdoor seating. Our salad and sandwich was quite good and service was friendly.... More

This is a sandwich place. The interior decor is designed to mimic what probably was common for a roadside diner around Issaquah circa 1900. I had never been in an establishment like this, and found the decor very interesting Service was excellent and staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. Food was OK. The bread on the bottom of my Reuben... More

The Boarding House has been an Issquah fixture for years, and you can always count of excellent food. Fresh salads, soups made daily, delicious desserts, all served in an old house that has been converted to a restauant. Charmingly mismatched chairs and tables, and the feel of Grandma's summer house.

You can count on very good, often excellent, food here. Today may have been my least satisfying visit yet it was still pretty good. Delicious cabbage/bean soup but served barely warm. Normally wonderful turkey sandwich today served on "meh" bread and slathered with cranberry jelly instead of accompanied by a lovely side of whole cranberry sauce. Hope it's a temporary... More

The food was absolutely delicious but the customer service if enough to never make me want to return the older lady i believe her name is carol was so rude to myself and my co-workers she made us wait to get our food order until she was done having her personal non work related conversation. When we finally got our... More

I love the atmosphere and the the women who work there. Wonderful soup, sandwiches, and salads. Oh! and the apple crisp is to die for! Fabulous lunch spot. They only take checks or cash though, so be prepared.

We have been eating at the Boarding House since it opened in the 1970's. It is located in Gilman Village, a collection of early 1900's buildings that house a variety of shops. While the other buildings have changed shops several times, the Boarding House remains the same and as excellent as ever. Everything is homemade. They serve delicious soups, sandwiches,... More
