Last spring had wanted to try St. John's Bakery for lunch, but it was Good Friday and was closed. We planned our trip from Yakima to Hood River so we'd be there at lunchtime. Thus being hungry we drove into Goldendale and was just leaving town when we spotted The Glass Onion in an old house. Wow, what a surprise!... More

My friend and I were pleasantly surprised by this little hole-in-the-wall, when we went to Goldendale to visit the Observatory. The wait-staff was sensitive and helpful in accommodating my food-allergies (they made me a butter-free shrimp pil-pil which was fantastic), and the cheese-peach appetizer was a surprise and a pleasure. My friend's steak was a little overdone, but overall, we... More

Started with the Grilled Peaches, Fresh Ricotta Cheese, Honey & Arugula. It was sublime. The luscious nectar of the charred peaches mixed with the creaminess of fresh ricotta, the sweetness of the honey and the slightly bitter arugula just danced all over my palate! The Arancini were excellent, slightly crisp on the exterior and creamily gooey inside with the rice... More

We found this gem while traveling south from B.C. to Hood River. Very good food. Service is average. Very imaginative menu. Good wine list. We enjoyed the meal very much, especially watermelon salad. It seemed unbelievable to find good cuisine in a small farming town, literally out in middle on nowhere. Well worth the stop.

Best thing Goldendale has going for them! Not much to this little town but they have a fantastic restaurant! Loved the salad rolls with the mango in them! And the salad was the freshest! Must if went out to backyard and picked it! Yum yum!!!'

We appreciated this restaurant taking our reservation for just a half hour before they closed, but we were completely blown away by the food. The restaurant is in a charming rehabbed home, with excellent photographic art, mostly taken by one of the owners, but it doesn't look like a gourmet heaven. However, the food was simply amazing. A number of... More

Based on the location, this is not the type of dining I planned on running into. Great food, good service, and nice atmosphere. They even had kid menus and crayons! Very modern dining for a very small town. The menu was full of fresh, local ingredients that went straight into the flavor. If I'm in the neighborhood, I plan on... More

Artistic, creative menu and presentation. I love being in a historic house with a wraparound porch! And the classy background music completes the elegant picture. I'll eat here every time I'm in Goldendale!

I understand now why the other reviewer said they would drive a hundred miles round trip to eat here because I would too! My mom had the salmon salad, I had the sirloin (cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce), my son had a cheese pizza, my daughter had grilled cheese, and my husband had a Caesar and the ribs special.... As a former chef and world traveler, I was expecting very little to be happening in this tiny little blue-collar town in Eastern Washington. I was given a recommendation by another chef, and had tongue firmly planted in cheek. Oh, heavens! One of the finest meals my partner and I have ever had. Fresh, delicious ingredients coupled with brillliant seasonings... More
