This staple of the Ellensburg landscape is located in an old church and yes its yellow. Their food is original and gourmet. Absolutely must try the heavenly loaf.

I MISS THE KOBE BEEF BURGER - one of the things that disappeared off the menu under new ownership. But... their burger is still very good, especially if you get it on the "heavenly loaf" bread (I'm not kidding... try it.) The new owner is not friendly at all but the other staff is always friendly and great. Cozy, artistic... More

I wasn't expecting a perfectly seared tuna on my Salade Niçoise. Just because Ellensburg is inland doesn't mean they can't get fresh fish I guess; but we were very pleasantly surprised! Greens were fresh and local and the egg perfectly executed, a la Julia Childs. Our family had stopped in for lunch on our way to Walla Walla and wine... More

The Yellow Church Cafe has changed hands, and the new hands are amazing. Still the same ambiance, cozy little cafe, but the food is AMAZING. I had a steak, on a slight bit of the most perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes ever, with nice garnishes. That steak is memorable. 4 in our group were quickly seated, water served, and drinks served... More

After flyfishing the Yakima all day, I was looking for some good food to warm me up and fill me up...this was an excellent choice...the Chili was very good...dense and flavorful...and having spent 7 years in Dallas, it embarrassed all the chili I ate there (you put beans in chili)...the service was friendly and quick, the chocolate chip cookie was... Very pleasant restaurant setting. Not a very big place so limited tables available, which brought us to wonder why it took so long for our order to be prepared. Our waitress was very helpful in helping us decide on our beverage and meal selections. She helped us with deciding on a cider selection as my wife wanted to try one... More

On a recent road trip though Washington, we stopped for lunch in Ellensburg, a small college town in the middle of nowhere. We look for small, local places to eat and happened on the attention-grabbing Yellow Church Café. The inside is still recognizable as a church with stained glass windows and other details and it feels like a friendly quirky... More

Fun little small town joint. Happy staff and friendly service. They work hard but don't be in a rush when you come here as it is usually busy. They could work on making sure things are consistent when you get your food. They forgot my biscuit and I didn't get whipping cream in my hot coco but the table next... More

We were passing through and saw this place recommended in our guidebook and now we see why. From our table on the balcony, we could look down and watch our lunch being prepared. Our server was friendly, attentive and professional. The bison burgers not only were delicious, but I swear they must put most of an entire bison in one... More

We were on the way home to Surrey, BC after a couple of weeks in the states and stopped the last night in Ellensburg. The hotel recommended three restaurants, this was one of them but not the top recommendation from them. This place had been mentioned in our BCAA book and you can't miss the bright yellow building so after... More
