Fun to experience especially with small children

We stopped here last week after visiting Paradise at Mount Rainier. Our kids are 20 months and 4 years so they were really excited to be inside of a train. They loved the toy trains inside as well. Hey, Marley! So glad to hear that you and your kids enjoyed your meal so much. I really do appreciate all the feedback, and we'll see what we can do about those dishes that were more "meh" than anything else. Hope to see you again soon! Best, Elisa Fruzzetti - Owner More

We stopped here after visiting Mt. Ranier National Park. The food was delicious. The décor is interesting with old railroad artifacts. The food was delicious, but a little pricey. The do have a childrens menu. It was fun to eat in an old dining car.

Eating in a train car is a cute idea for dining but it ends there. Had to wait for a table even though there were only a few tables taken. Waitress was by herself in the lounge and she had trouble handling the few tables she had. We waited about 10 min for her to take the drink and meal... More

stho1083, you should always have a terrific meal when you visit, so I'm very sorry to hear the opposite was the case with your experience. As you had to wait for your table, as well as your food for some time, it's clear we could maybe benefit from having more of our team members available to serve you. I'll be... More

Eat inside an old railroad car? Heck yeah! The food quantity is going to be huge! Get the hash for breakfast and you have to eat until dinner. It's a great experience and the staff is very nice as well.

Hobo stew was mostly vegetables and potatoes. Reasonably priced. Chicken salad was fresh and varied. The lovely lady serving us was friendly and attentive. Clean bar and restaurant. Not cheap yet not a budget breaker. Would probably search for other restaurants down the road.

6 of us went on the train ride and it was pouring down rain when we got off so we decided to dine here. They quickly seated us and gave us our own room with a round table which was really nice. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the vegetarian burger and really enjoyed all the grilled vegetables that they... More

I had no cellular signal near here, so I was unable to look up any restaurants on Urbanspoon. We drove by this place twice and decided to check it out. There was only one other table dining when we arrived. I decided on the venison burger. They went back to the kitchen and returned to tell me that they were... More

I'm glad you enjoyed the food, but I'm sorry about that venison burger! It's tough to keep up with game meat like that. It sounds like you had a pretty alright experience, but hopefully next time you swing by, your meal will be even better! Best wishes, Elisa Fruzzetti - Owner More

30.00 dollars for less than average food wiith little taste as well, Had the buffalo burger. The patty did not fill the bun. Asked for a salad, got spinich and a carrot stick. My wife ordered a fish burger that was less appetizing than fish sticks. The ride through the mountins was great this place was not.

I'm disappointed to hear this. We do take a lot of pride in our business, but if the food isn't up to expectations, then that means we have so more work to do. I'm sorry that the food wasn't as good as it should have been. I'll let my team know about your feedback so we can continue to improve.... More

We wanted the experience of eating in old train dining car. The car was nicely furnished. Service was slow and prices were high. I had a shrimp salad and it was 17.99 and my husband had an elk burger and we had flavored tea and lemonade and our bill was $40. Kind of spendy for a lunch

Elisa F, Owner at Mt. Rainier Railroad Dining Co., responded to this review

First of all, thanks for coming in, Karen, and I apologize if the prices caught you off guard. Shrimp, as with all seafood, is an expensive protein, and game animals like elk are also a little pricier when it comes to our inventory. Because of this, we have to adjust our prices accordingly. Thanks for understanding. Best, Elisa Fruzzetti -... More

Best hamburger there, they put their own special sauce on it, yummy, it was busy that day, only two persons working so they were very slow, but the hamburger was worth the wait.
