Great View, stuffy, perhaps pretentious service

I've eaten at this beautiful spot quite a few times in the past decade, but it seems a bit pretentious and overpriced to me now. Sure, the oysters are excellent (can't get much fresher, Taylor's Shellfish right close); prawns a bit overcooked, but something about the atmosphere the past two visits... read more

Have wanted to try this for years and just never got around to it until yesterday. I wish we had done this years ago. We arrived about 330 for a late lunch and the place was still 3/4 full. Despite it's tiny size (maybe 15 tables) we got a table right away and I must say i don't think there... More

Gorgeous view, gorgeous drive down from Bellingham and GORGEOUS food. We nibbled on appetisers and white wine. So good. The steamed mussels were perfect and the broth was exquisite. The calamari was beautifully tender and the aleoli was lovely. Excellent service lovely afternoon.

I had read amazing reviews about the Oyster Bar and was really looking forward to our Sunday lunch there. My husband really loves raw oysters so he was very excited. View was good of the water peaking through tall pines growing on the steep slope below the restaurant. But I don't think the view justified the steep prices. Each raw... More

We came here for a birthday lunch, thus had to take the weather as it presented itself: rainy and misty, but it added a bit of special atmosphere to the view over Samish Bay and the nearby islands. We will definitely return another day when the weather shows its best side and the view is clear. The restaurant has a... More

An overall nice experience. Food was delicious. My steak and lobster tail was great , the chimichurri sauce was almost perfect ( as I think I make the best chimichurri in the world I really like this one) My guest meal was the beef tenderloins 2 oz medallions and shrimp combo ; the taste was good however the size was... Went there on recommendation from a local cheese maker. After looking over the menu and realizing that all items were quite pricey, decided to just have the Endives and Fig salad with a bowl of the Salmon Chowder. Bread was warm and tasty, service was excellent and view of eagles flying between trees was fantastic. Food was very well prepared... More

If you don't mind paying for the location, you will probably feel like you had a good experience at the Oyster Bar. Since I didn't eat the bread, I left the dinner table with an empty wallet and a vaguely hungry feeling. I ordered the "Stacked Crab" appetizer special which was more like a small heap than a stack. Very... More

We visited the Oyster Bar for our Thanksgiving meal. One person ordered the turkey, the 2 others had differing entrees. All appetizers and entrees were delicious. We also liked the festive autumn lighting and the fire. The magnificent trees outside added to our pleasure.

The Oyster Bar has been a high end, fine dining venue for at least 40 years. The service has never been the same since their long time waiter, John , retired, but it is still some of the best in the area. the food is eclectic and very well done and the view sitting on a cliff overlooking Samish Bay...
