Great wait staff - large portions - usually everyone has a smile and nice comments- but a few months back a friend and I stopped in and the table had an ad on it for lamb shanks- my friend loves that meal but when the plate arrived they had served lamb chops? an entirely different meal - when we mentioned... Ever since the current ownership took over The Black Diamond Bakery the food and service have gone downhill. The breakfast menu is bland and lacks flavor. The service use to be outstanding but the last few times I've gone it has been terrible. So much so that I will never go back, and I live 10 minutes form the restaurant.

Where to begin? Before being seated we noticed sign all over tell customers to keep their children under control... Classy. Not so welcoming. We weren't offered a children's menu so my 11 year old ate half a 10$ breakfast. Overpriced and the bacon was overdone. Couldn't place our order despite asking twice as no one knew what section we were... More

Basic bakery and breakfast restaurant. It's somewhat quaint. Food is edible, but not great. It's definitely popular, I suspect tradition drives the clientele rather than excellent food.

The clouds didn't obscure the mountain today and so the view was incredible. We had a great table to enjoy it. The dinner menu with halibut with a peach sauce and steak with a strawberry sauce sounded yummy however we were there for lunch. The portions were good to huge depending on what you get. I had the reuben sandwich... More

Went on a Friday night and hardly no one was there maybe a few elderly couples, so we were seated right in front by the big windows. Unfortunately Mt. Rainier was not out so I couldn't see it. Our waitress was very patient while we had questions and decided what to eat. She wouldn't let me substitute a salad for... More

Nice friendly place. Small but cute dining area with beautiful Mt. Rainier view ( when the Mts out) Decent menu selection for lunch & dinner but IMO breakfast is what they do best. Chicken fried steak was fantastic. Looking forward to trying other AM treats. They also have a great bakery with fresh baked breads and assorted treats. There is... More

I did not go into the restaurant I only got things from the bakery. The bakery has a large variety of items, pastries, donuts, breads, pies, cookies, etc. It's very appealing to the eye when you walk in. The counter girl was very nice, though it did take her several minutes to come to the counter and acknowledge I was... More

and if you're in the area it's worth a visit. The establishment is split between the restaurant on one end and the bakery and sitting area on the other. I usally get a maple bar and coffee and my wife a big chocolate chip cookie. Very good. There is a great variety of really good looking pastries, donuts, pies, etc.... More
