We came here for lunch and happened to be the only customers. I had a beef burrito which was so salty that I felt dehydrated all day. My companions felt that their meals were too salty as well. We were not impressed with the chips and salsa either. I know the owners have little control over this, but there are... More

We were in town for an event and stayed close to the El Agave so we decided to walk there. The food and drinks were quick and very good. The portions were huge too. I had the chimichanga combo and it was one of the best I have ever had. They have a number of draft beers in three different... More

A lot of reviewers talk about the wonderful service at this restaurant. We got an order to go so I can't comment on that. There was absolutely nothing wrong with our order but nothing that stood out to make me want to come back to this place more than most other Mexican restaurants in the area. I got the chicken... Upon entering the parking lot, it appeared to be full so we thought the food must be good if so many people were eating here. Once inside, we were promptly greeted and taken to a table and given menus. Within seconds, a server was at our table with chips, salsa, pico de gallo and asking for our drink order. Again,... More

If you want authentic Mexican food look no further. Friendly staff, prompt service. The food portions are large so don't over order unless you are quite hungry. Have gone several times and not been disappointed.

We have dined several times at El Agave's main Bellingham location with each being an excellent experience. The great news is they have opened a new second location at Sudden Valley outside of town. The view is excellent. The service remains price range superb; inquires about a sauce and samples were brought to the table as an example. Want a... More

As a student at the University I have a coupon for buy one, get one entree. You can't beat that! So I eat here often because of the great prices. The food is your typical mexican diner food. Good, but nothing extraordinary.

We'd been hearing good things about El Agave but had a decidedly mixed experience when we ate there. At first glance, the menu looks pretty typical (which isn't a positive thing, as generic Mexican food is all too common and not terribly authentic), but there are some interesting gems to be found. Chips w/2 kinds of salsa were fresh and... More

I've only eaten here twice so far but have really liked what I've had. They do serve your Mexican-American basics, but the menu also has a lot more traditional and interesting dishes. My first time here I had a great steak and cactus dish; not something I would expect at most Mexican restaurants in Bellingham. The food is very fresh... More

The meal here was "adequate" or a "C" at best, there was nothing wrong with it, but I felt I could have made this at home probably, and that there wasn't really too much put into it extra or special in any way.Yes, the portions were decently large, and the waiter was nice and attentive, but pricing wise for what...
