Authentic and special; small plates are best bet

My husband and I went here on a date. We travel in Italy a good deal and love true Italian food. We shared first the dry roasted pork belly--fabulous!!--along with the pea vines with spec & an egg on top. Both were delicious and nicely presented. Next, we shared the Ricotta Gnudi with lamb... read more

Some of the food was excellent. Their pasta is made right there and it was excellent. The chairs are awful, all wood and very uncomfortable, curving away from your body in the lumbar area instead of toward your back. I found something in my food that didn't belong. Nothing gross (like a formerly living thing) but it didn't belong anyway.... More

We ate at Cantinetta on a Thursday evening, and it was pleasantly busy. The service and ambiance were fine. Our first course was the sugar snap peas, summer corn and diced onion salad. It was excellent. The main course Tagliatelli was very disappointing. It consisted of two (2) small spot prawns, heirloom tomatoes and saffron. A portion of the pasta... More

We had a lovely dinner on the outdoor patio last night. The crab appetizer was mixed with fresh fennel, accompanied with avocado and grapefruit. You have to try this all together. Very flavourful and nice surprise. We ordered a side of roasted cauliflower which was said to have been soaked in a citrus juice. However it is also served with... More

But it yet has miles to go. The menu is limited, I have no issues with that, but then the restaurant has to deliver on each one of them. On that account it failed. Despite that I did have a good time, maybe it was the wine and the casual / rustic ambiance.

We dined here last night with friends and the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. We've all spent time in Italy and this was the most authentic Italian we've tasted in the states. The gnocchi was like pillows and cooked and flavored to perfection. The panna cotta was amazing!! Lovely vanilla with tangy apricots. The setting was great,... More

Service is impeccable, you truly feel part of Cantinetta family every time you dine here. Food- true modern Italian (anyone looking for a pizza and oil-saturated chicken parmigiana are in the wrong place). Great selection of wine, ever-changing perfectly created menu, and great size portions (normal that is). Highly recommended and truly loved by us and many of our friends.

We had the clams and sausage, not so impressed. The grilled pork belly was wonderful as was the salad. The winner was a pasta dish with lamb. The pasta was made with ricotta and melted in your mouth. The beef short ribs were great. Have their signature dessert, like an Italian doughnut, made to order. Noisy, tables close together, yes... More

We went on a Thursday night. Our intention was to try a new restaurant during Dine Around Seattle. We ended up ordering off the reg menu instead. It's a pretty cozy (ie, small) restaurant. It's also very loud. The tables were very close together - only someone very skinny could squeeze between them to get to the other seat. Parking... More

Ricotta Gnudi, oxtail, braised cabbage, chestnut You do not find oxtail served often I around here.. It was well prepared and flavorful. Service was attentive and it was not as noisy as I was led to believe by other reviewers. Price is reasonable. I would go back.
