2nd Time a Charm.

A year or longer my wife and I made our first visit to John Howie. I made the mistake of ordering a Wagyu style steak. Having never had Wagyu beef before, I was extremely disappointed. In December, we gave John Howie another go. Success! We went on a Friday night, which is a prime rib night... read more

John Howie has what I consider the best steak in town. Better than Daniels , the Met of El Goucho. Great wine selection (Mark Ryan is on point). Their happy hour is a great deal. It's not cheap, but a nice night out and great meal.

Happy hour food and drinks are great and reasonably priced. There can be a line for the bar, so don't arrive too hungry, or you may be a bit grumpy before you have a chance to sit down and eat.

We have been wanting to dine at John Howie Steak for some time, and finally had the opportunity to do so, along with another couple. We ordered soup for our starter, which was delicious. Of course for our entree we had to try the Wagyu Steak that we had heard so much about. So we ordered the triple Combination Platter... More

Be sure to make reservations and ask for a window as it offers a better view than the crowded hallway. While this a steak place I frequently get the jidori chicken with pan fried gnocchi. Love the habanero shrimp but the fried bacon has lost all its allure. The fresh bread is worth a visit all in itself!

I'm not a fan of steak, but most of high end steakhouses have great selection of salad. John Howie is one of them. I loved their watermelon salad, and will go back just for it!

++Wonderful food and helpful bartenders! Many choices of food items and couple of drinks on happy hours (3-6, 9-close on weekdays. Check their website for accurate days/time since it changed on me once before) It is unfortunate as with other steak house happy hours that you have to line up to get a table seats instead of at the bar.... Whether you sit in the restaurant or the bar, this is a great place to go for a really good steak. A very good wine list (it can be pricey, so look for some of the Washington or Napa "value" Reds on the menu), and fantastic service. Place fills up for Happy hour from all of the local business people... More

This restaurant just doesn't miss. Everything they do, they do extremely well. The food and service are outstanding. Dinners are great but expensive. However, their Sunday family dinner is a real value and I highly recommend it. (You must have 4 people.) Happy Hour food is another great value as is Lunch. I can truly say that I have never... Our big mistake was not returning to John Howie's Steak House sooner. The food is terrific, well prepared and delicious. Diners should know that the beef is top shelf and priced accordingly, the salads and side dishes are very large and better suited to 2 or three adults per order and the service is so attentive as to intrude on...
