I love this place...

Let's start w the French onion soup. Some of the best u have ever had...ever! This and an appetizer could be a meal unto itself. I have it every time I go to see Frederic, the owner/chef. He is passionate about his food...and it shows. He occasionally has a heart of palm salad as a special... read more

La Nicoise Café's owner/chef, Frederic Boukaia, and his son have the talent and deliver a superb offering of Mediterranean/French cuisine! We had the onion soup (rich, well seasoned broth, a perfect blend of cheeses, the best we've ever had), followed by entree's of duck breast ala orange (for me) and the calves liver (for my husband). Both were delightfully complex... More

La Nicoise is a great bistro, reasonably priced and feeling like the thing: having lunch in France while still in Winchester. The French and chef graciously welcomed us to his nicely decorated bistro. Each of our orders took a little time to prepare, a good sign in French restaurants. I ordered frogs legs, which were out of this world. My... More

This café is warm and cozy with the most wonderful aromas swirling about when you walk through the door. There were Christmas carols in French playing in the background. The French onion soup is wonderful and everything it should be. My husband had the lamb chops and I had the trout. Both were melt in your mouth delicious! It is... More

Everything I had tasted wonderful and was cooked perfectly! I had the scallops and blue cheese, yum! I ordered the lamb chops, again the chops and sides were amazing. For dessert the creme brulee was perfect. I wish I could eat here all the time.

I could tell by peeking in the window as we walked past, that a real French chef was at the stove! We returned for dinner around 8:30. Was Thanksgiving eve and we had the place to ourselves. "Bonsoir!" I called out as we darkened the doorway. Turns out the server was new and all American but my ensuing French commentary... More

Thank you for a wonderful lunch! Stopped by mid day with my husband and daughter and enjoyed a nice lunch of soup and salad. Owner was very welcoming and kind.

We have been to La Nicoise a number of times and enjoy the atmosphere. It is very quiet, the Chef/owner is very welcoming and funny, and the food is always delicious. We have often been for Sunday brunch which has egg dishes, but quite a variety of other things too. The chef makes flavorful sauces. I recently had trout with... More

Not sure how this restaurant got such good reviews and high ranking. Went for lunch and liked the ambiance, even though the whole place including the kitchen needs to be scrubbed down. Ordered pate, which was old and bread, which was dry and flavorless. The entrees were not edible. Fish was microwaved and beef was disgusting. Everything tasted old and... More

The food was very nice. On the restaurant walls there were all framed pieces from the local newspaper in a frame with stories how excellent the restaurant is. Als the owner was walking around in his apron telling guests how good he is. He also asked if we had a reservation while the restaurant was nearly empty.
