Not sure what the excitement about this place is. The atmosphere is HORRIBLE! At with my date in silence as the place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Anything over a whisper could be heard by all. Weird! The food is just so so, and way overpriced. Avoid this place. Go to the Village Square. MUCH better.

My wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try. We'd heard good things, but were hesitant. What we found was by far one of the best meals we have ever eaten. The touch that I most appreciated was that each item on the menu was paired with a wine and all wines on the menu were available by... More

I have started researching lunch spots on our trips back to New England. The trip does not seem as boring when there is a great lunch to look forward to after 4 hours of driving. One Block West was a little off the beaten path (thank goodness for GPS) but well worth the drive. When we arrived in Winchester, it... More

personal attention, great food and staff. Local growers provide alot of the fare. Extensive wine list, seasonal special dinners using local vendors. Off the beaten path of the chains.

We ate at One Block West early on a Saturday night, after a day sightseeing in Winchester and skipping lunch. They serve a different menu every night, positing it online at about opening time. We found that the menu varied very little from the day before, so getting an idea of what might be on offer isn’t difficult. The real... More

After 10 years at this restaurant, it still amazes and humbles me that people find what we do to be a "treat." We come to work each day trying to put out the best experience we can and sometimes we get caught up in the mechanics without realizing the impact we can have on our guests. Thank you for reminding... More

One Block West has a highly original menu, that is reliably delicious, with beautiful presentation. Excellent staff, a bit pricy, but worth it for that special dinner out.

We had dinner there for the first time and found the food to be very good. My Trout was excellent, came with baby greens and Quinoa which I had never had before but wasn't bad. My wife had the Veal wrapped in Prosciutto which was also very good. It came slightly undercooked for her tastes but they redid it very... More

Thanks for trying us for the first time and thank you for your positive review. Also, I want to commend your wife for sending back the veal when it wasn't cooked enough for her. As you could see, it was not an issue at all. I am not a mindreader, contrary to popular belief, and so I cook proteins how... More

Wonderful plated dinners at this small establishment in downtown Winchester. I Love the crab guacamole for instance. The most recent visits to this restaurant have included entrees with duck and before that, very succulent lamb. The wait staff is very attentive, knows their wine and always very polite. I would recommend O.B.W. to everyone that is in search of a... More

We make a point of stopping in Winchester on every visit south, because of the several really good restaurants in the old town area. This one is the best. Local produce and local wines, with imagination and top quality presentation. Some day we'll manage to attend a Thursday chef's table, but even the regular menu is good enough to keep... More

This is a superb restaurant. Passed through Winchester on a cross country trip. Winchester has a great downtown which is where One Block West is situated. The food is simply superb. Fresh, local ingredients means a changing menu based on what is available and good. So it doesn't matter what you get in that it is all great. I had... More

I'm glad you stopped in on your cross country trip. It's amazing to me that we served the best food of your entire trip--that's a terrific compliment and I thank you for it! We are a seasonal restaurant and so eggplant would not have been on the menu in March. We serve lots of eggplant, but from late July until... More
