Historic and quaint

Ate here with friends in June 2014. Wasn't sure when we walked in base on the age of the building. Service as excellent and the food really good. Menu was varied and prices seemed fair for historic Williamsburg. Would go back again.

This little bistro is often frequented by college students for special events and "lucky" tourists who find an open table. Dinner reservations can be hard to come by. We wonder why. Must be the convenient location for Colonial Williamsburg and the College of Wm & Mary. Location is where the positive ends for us. We made reservations for 6 for... More

Tim, you are something! You are just now writing about a visit you made over a year ago - that is fantastic!! We couldn't be happier - both that you remembered our meal and that you had such nice things to say. Please come back soon! More

If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would, but I can't give it 4. A French bistro is not meant to be haute cuisine; Blue Talon aims at something in between. The menu for this time of year was a bit of a shock: lamb shanks cassoulet, braised beef, meatloaf... in mid-May? Where is the sorrel salad, the petit... More

We are grateful that you took the time to share and the last thing any restaurant wants is to mess up someone's meal, let alone their birthday! While I was sorry that the presentations of the steak and liver were responsible for your disappointment, I was relieved to read that you enjoyed the flavors of everything you ordered. The server... This bistro offered a great variety of delectable main dishes but the chopped salad grabbed my attention for our late lunch/early dinner visit. The salad was laden with all sorts of goodies but the best part of it for me was the feta cheese which was delightfully plentiful. The Mac & Cheese was perfect..just pasta, sauce and cheese but, oh... More

I was happy to read your nice comments. Both the Chopped Salad and Mac & Cheese are among our most popular dishes! We are grateful to you for sharing your thoughts, as it helps visitors get a sense of what they can expect if they visit. Like everybody, we love to hear the good stuff and hate to read the... More

We were recommended this restaurant so we went for lunch. I believe maybe it is what we order. Saying that I believe everything should be exceptional. So therefor I am giving it only an average. By the way we ordered the Salmon cake on Cesar salad and Cobb salad.

I couldn't agree more - we DO want everything to be exceptional! I think that mistaken expectations might have played a role here? We do offer a Caesar Salad with pulled rotisserie roasted chicken but our Salmon Cake Salad is served on a salad of Bibb lettuce with tomato wedges and a vinaigrette dressing, which is really nothing close to... We arrived a couple of minutes early for an 11a reservation for Mother's Day brunch. The harried lady behind the counter had four servers standing around while they fretted for close to 3-5 minutes about where someone was to be seated before she even acknowledged us. Then, with the place at that hour less than half full, they sat us... More

We are sorry that you weren't greeted right away! I can't really apologize for your being seated near the jazz duo, as those tables are some of the most requested every time we have jazz - we could gladly have moved you to another table if we knew! We bake our croissants at 7:00 a.m., and they are served room... More

We had lunch and the menu was interesting. My husband had the chicken mushroom crepes and I had the vegetable potato pie. Both were really good and served with a nice fresh baby lettuce salad. The coffee was also good. It comes out a bit pricey. The place is nice. We sat outside and the service was friendly and efficient.
