We had a wonderful dinner at Fat Canary. It starts with the staff who are friendly and informative and not pretentious. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. I had the lamb shank and it literally fell of the bone it was so tender. My husband had the duck. He frequently orders duck and said this was... More

Took my mom here for her birthday and it did not disappoint. Good from start to finish. Lobster appetizer was phenomenal. Also loved the pork chop with goat cheese soufflé and apples

I love the food at the fat canary, a little pricey but always very good. The bartender is a wonderful guy to talk to and I always feel welcomed there.

Fine dining in the heart of Williamsburg, always busy, so book a reservation. I decided to order 3 apps instead of a dinner entrée, good call. The chef sent out a soup special, cream of parsnip I think, and it was great. I had the oysters and ribs for a starter, and that would have been enough, but I finished... More

Haddock was their special($40). Pan seared, 3"by 2"by 1". Sliced new potatoes and a couple of asparagus. Mediocre. Limited menu. Soup made from white sweet potatoe unique. Salad of cheese and Ham rolls with greens ok. Very over priced with just ok ambiance. Service was excellent

Our reservation was done by e-mail from Norway 6 weeks ahead. We were reminded by the restaurant by e-mail a couple of days before our evening at the Fat Canary. Nice touch. This was one of the best two restaurant meals I've ever had in the USA. From the welcome, the service from a competent grown-up female waiter, the wine... More

The meal at Fat Canary was one of the best I have ever had. I live in a major city with great restaurants so I have high expectations. We both ordered the scallops...seared to perfection and served on a bed of couscous. The white bean soup was outstanding. The wine was excellent and the "Yellow Canary" cocktail was delicious. The... Hands down the best meal I have ever had. I ordered the duck and it was the best I had ever had. It was succulent and prepared nicely, not just in appearance. My husband ordered the salmon and enjoyed every bit of it. For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse. I was a bet hesitant to do so as I... More

If Fat Canary had been around during the starving period, maybe history would have been rewritten. I agree with all the other positive comments- great food, great service, great facility. Nice find after a long day of sight seeing!

This was the 4th visit over a number of years- even prior to the new location- pre-fire. Great food, well prepared, seasoned properly and always fresh. Local ingredients are always on the menu and the staff knows what to suggest. The fried oysters were excellent and the special rock fish was delicious . We also had the fowl and it... More
