The Cheese Shop -- Tasty Sandwiches, Friendly Staff, Variety of Specialty Foods

To begin, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere pleasant, though at times the shop can get busy and have a high volume of customers, so anticipate longer lines and a little crowding inside and out during peak seasons. `We returned here for great sandwitches on Saturday, and as always they were very good. The protions are very generous and the prices are ok for the size. The prepared salads are also worth a try as well as the good selection of drinks

We took a break from Colonial Williamsburg to grab a late lunch and this place was still packed outt he door. It was about 2 pm. They did have a couple of ladies in the shop to direct you which line to go and order in and then you left the line and waited on your food and waited to... More

Loved the experience ordering the cheeses and picking out a bottle of wine. Everyone was quite helpful and their suggestions worked out perfectly!

We stopped for lunch and were THRILLED! Super cheese/deli shop with a great selection of grocery items and wines. We had a lunch of turkey and braunschweiger sandwiches. Quality. A very fun picnic out front, too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tourists love this place and don't seem to mind the long wait for sandwiches. Locals know to phone in orders. Tip - go to the website to choose your food and call in an order. You will save time and aggravation. Many food items are attractively displayed, and the long wait for food encourages you to look around. They have... More

Something you can say about very few places! I fell in love with The Cheese Shoppe 30 years ago on an April Day when I went to visit W&M and it never disappoints. MUST GO everytime I am in Williamsburg.

A popular lunch stop in Merchant’s Square at the end of DOG Street. The lines, however, get rather long. Bypass the crush by calling in your order (757-220-0298 or 757-220-1324). There is a pick up window on the side of the building. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes before it’s ready. I recommend the combo (ham and turkey) on... More

As you might expect the cheese counter is fantastic. Servers are extremely helpful and a wealth of knowledge. We sampled quite a few selections, and our server was patient with us. I explained we had a 5 hr trip ahead of us, and she went out of her way to wrap our blocks of cheese in with a bag of... More

Several students and shop keepers guided us to The Cheese Shop when we asked for recommendations on a good place for lunch. Loved it so much we returned the following day. The first day we ate here was a madhouse...Monday of spring break. Their ordering system is a bit confusing for first-timers. The retail area is at the front of... More
