A tradition remains

We still love coming here after all the years, and still don't mind waiting for the food. Good, simple bbq- and this time I had my first ever pierces burger- it was delicious. I'll take this over fast food any day! My only gripe- the bbq sauce seems to get hotter every year. Keep the spice down!

...BBQ in the State. An excellent smoke flavor that is absent in a lot of BBQ sites. I had the JC combo, a good deal which includes a cookie fries and a drink. Although usually crowded, service moves fast and tables are plentiful and the staff turns them quickly.

Wife and 2 Grandson's and Daughter visited on our last trip to Williamsburg, VA area. I was the hit of the trip. The BBQ sandwiches and the FF were perfect. All enjoyed their dinner. Is not a fancy place, but a great place to eat the best BBQ in the area. Little out of the way, but once you get... More

We got the pulled pork sandwiches with french fries and Onion Rings. The pork was more like a smoked sloppy joe than the standard Eastern style NC BBQ. The slaw on the sandwich was good. The french fries were less than average, but the onion rings were delicious. I hadn't been here in years, but the experience was pretty much... More

Fabulous chicken and pork barbecue! Our eight year old grandson declared it the best he has ever eaten! The barbecue sauce was outstanding, vinegar-y, not sickening sweet. They really pay attention to sides as well. The green beans, mac and cheese and cole slaw were superb! The place is a zoo! You stand in a long line to order, then... More

We tried this place based on Trip Advisor reviews. What the reviews failed to mention is that this place is more 'fast food" with no wait service than a sit down dinner. Think McDonald's booths from 15 years ago and eating on takeout plastic. It was packed, but we still can't figure out why. The chicken BBQ was cubed chicken... More

A great place for lunch! Totally worth the detour from the highway. My family and I stop every time we pass by! Nice outdoor seating when the inside is packed. Great southern BBQ!

Had the full rack with slaw and hush puppies. Falling off the bone ribs. Ate too much. Be careful you don't order more than you can eat.

Again this evening we enjoyed a delicious barbecue meal. The sandwiches were tasty and the coleslaw was very good. The french fries were hot and crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The service was fast even though there was a long line when we arrived. This is a must visit when in the Williamsburg area.

I've been going to this BBQ place since the 70's (before that section of I-64 was completed) when it was a walk-up window and a bunch of picnic tables. Lots has changed over the years (indoor seating, bigger menu) but the BBQ is still great (the best for hundreds of miles [in my humble opinion] although there are certainly other... More
