Great staff. Atmosphere was very colonial. Food was awesome! A lady played period violin music while we ate. Kids loved it! Thanks for a great visit! We'll recommend over and over again!

The atmosphere of colonial times is fantastic as well as the food. The apple cider rum punch was the best drink at our table! Make sure you don't forget the dessert!!!! One of the BEST fruit cobblers I've eaten!

We were in Williamsburg for several days and make dinner reservations at Shield's for dinner. When entering, your name is announced and you are taken to your table. The staff is dressed in period costume and the restaurant looks like an older tavern. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The meal was excellent, freshly made to order and served... More

I dined here with my family. We came for the Life of a Jolly Pyrate dinner Theater. Dinner is served in one of two rooms in the lower section of the tavern. Lit by real candle light. The atmosphere is dark, cool and cozy. We sat in the section furthest from the main stairs. It is a small intimate setting.... More

We ate there at the recommendation of making a reservation soon after we got to Colonial Williamsburg. Of an interesting note, I did experience something brush against the back of my neck and upper back soon after I sat down at the table. I was up against the wall so nothing should have brushed me or so I thought. I... More

We ate here for dinner last night and while the price was expensive it was worth every dime! The food was absolutely amazing!! I had the roast beef and it was the best I'd ever eaten in my life. My son had the chicken and ate the whole huge portion. We also enjoyed the cobbler with cinnamon ice cream and... More

This is a good place for families. The food is good hot and tastes great. We have eaten here several time and have never been disappointed. Even with a large group dining at the same time, the service is good and the food comes out quickly. Great place.
