Fun pirate dinner show

My BF and his 2 children, ages 9 and 12 ate here while staying in Williamsburg for the week. We booked the pirate dinner show though the front desk of the woodlands where we stayed. It was a very cute show and the cast was entertaining. We all had a great time. It was one set price with a prix... read more

I was so looking toward to this dining experience as I heard so much about it. I was looking for something as authentic as possible and had the ale pot stew....which was an ordinary array of vegetables and stew meat which was pretty tough. To make matters worse this was nearly a forty dollar dinner! I come from Orlando and... More

My multigenerational family of five enjoyed our late lunch here. I find it cool to eat in a place that really existed in the 18th century and to get to taste an 18th century punch after seeing it mentioned in various books over the years. (Pineapple juice and dark rum, and pretty nice-tasting, if you are curious, too!) The meat... More

We had a fun dinner at Shields Tavern and enjoyed the music and theater performances that were spontaneous here. House was done in authentic period decor and architecture, food was very good, but price was high - I guess to be expected when you are in a tourist area so I wasnt surprised. I would recommend this to friends but... More

Made reservations for my family and expected to be seated upstairs. After spending the day walking around the colonial village we were sat in the basement I feel it is because we were wearing shorts. Service was slow. The room was untidy and the server seabed scattered. We ordered french onion soups and the chowder. ... yet was hardly any... More

As always in Colonial Williamsburg the service was impeccable with friendly staff, period music, and great ambience. However, although everyone else in my party was happy with their food, I felt that my Pork dish was a bit bland when it came to pork shank and potatoes. Also, I've had better bread pudding than that - it was a bit... More

When we arrived very early for our reservation, they were able find a table for us to accommodate three elderly parents and seated us early. Our waitress was attentive and very kind and patient with them. Our meals were absolutely delicious and generous! In addition, we were able to enjoy a musician playing a guitar that wandered about from table... More

I had made a reservation for as soon as we would arrive there, and my grandchildren loved the costumed staff and home-made root beer and good kids' menu. Our waiter was just great when one child tipped over a drink--made her feel good, in fact. Adults liked their meals as well. Strolling down the almost-empty evening road afterward made us... More

Shield's is inside Colonial Williamsburg. We arrived on a very hot day without a reservation. We were told 20-30 minutes, and seated in less than 10. Surprisingly we were led to a table that was in the basement, all lit by candlelight, very cool and refreshing. A bit expensive, two burgers, one hot dog and a salad, no alcohol, almost... More

We had a grand time at the tavern. The wait was not that long at 11:45am. Once seated, we were introduced to the history of the tavern. Then we chose a wide range of food - shrimp n' grits, po' boy sandwich and the special, cross between a cheese steak and french dip. All very good! They were nice enough... More
