Unexpected Gem

We were looking to grab a late breakfast before heading to Norfolk, so on a whim, we pulled into the parking lot. We were too late for breakfast and too early for lunch but the proprietor encouraged us to put our name on "The List". We did, though I wasn't keen on staying. But my VSO wanted to... read more

We had breakfast at the Chickahominy House on the morning of our departure from Williamsburg. Breakfast was delightful, scrambled eggs perfectly prepared, ham and biscuits. The only missing was a bowl of fruit. I have visited this special spot for years and make it a regular stop when in Williamsburg.

We got to restaurant 1/2 hour before breakfast service stopped but the host welcomed us warmly and seated us. We placed our orders and were quickly served. Our drinks were quickly replenished by a friendly, happy waitress. Unfortunately we were rushed to eat quickly especially by another server who made a comment to my sister. My sister did not finish... More

I love this place I live in the west so my visit sadly aren't regular enough but I love the Chickahominy House. Great food, very warm staff and a fun shopping experience. You've got to go there you will not be disappointed.

The atmosphere is wonderful. The service is excellent. VERY limited menu, pre made grits and frozen biscuits, dry ham were a huge disappointment. Pancakes, eggs and bacon very good.

We were rushed from the get go and the quality was barely average. I've had better grits in the north. While the servers were very conscientious and efficient, we felt rushed. It started with with the host and hostess (owners?). It seems as though they pressure the servers since the breakfast window is so small. Turning tables seems important here.... More

My wife and I had a great lunch at the Old Chickahominy Restaurant today. We are locals and this is one of our favorite spots in town. I had the wonderful "Miss Melinda's Special" consisting of Brunswick stew, ham biscuit, fruit salad, homemade pie, and coffee. A little bit of everything and it was all delicious! A plus for us... The seating for this place is very limited, the tables are packed in pretty close together, luckily there is a store mixed in with it so you can browse products while waiting for your table, if their is a wait. We ordered the chicken and dumplings, chicken noodle soup, ham biscuits and regular biscuits. All the food was hot and... More

First time going for breakfast and it was excellent. I got two eggs, bacon and two biscuits. They are known for their biscuits which are rolled very thin like a piecrust. The building was built in the 50s and made to look like it's from the 1700s. Very quaint and cozy. They have a very nice gift shop with everything from... More
