Pros Beautifully appointed, excellent staff, expertly prepared food, outstanding wines. Cons None. Tip Have the waiter recommend the wine. This restaurant is easily one of the top restaurants we have visited all around the world. We dined here twice. The first night we wanted to test the kitchen by ordering a dinner composed only of appetizers. The restaurant offered four... More

This restaurant is in a bed and breakfast called the Wedmore pLace within the Williamsburg Winery gates. It is not easy to find and certainly not on the tourist strip where all the chain restaurants are. It is elegant, refined in both ambiance and food. We went with friends from the NY area and all of us felt that this... More

We enjoyed the food and wine. We had arrived into DC that day and after a long drive down, we were ready for a good meal and a decent bottle of wine. We were pleased on both fronts.

We've been coming to Williamsburg Winery for years and tried Cafe Provencal during our last visit. It's located in the hotel on site; the front desk staff were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction when we came in. We took advantage of the 3 course midweek special that they were running. There were several entree options, all... More

Shared a birthday evening with family only to begin with a complimentary champagne toast. The chef even sent out a spoon sampling later with a delicious whipped potato concoction. The food was well beyond our expectations. I think our table tried just about everything from lamb, chicken, fish, steak and duck ... and enjoyed every mouthwatering bite. This is the... More

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at the Cafe Provencal last weekend. What a great find! Since the Cafe is located on the grounds of a winery it is not surprising that it has an extensive wine list. The headwaiter, John, was very knowledgeable regarding wine in general, took note of our stated tastes and made an... More

Excellent food and service. Nice atmosphere with pretty French-inspired decor. However, we were celebrating an anniversary at an expensive restaurant and had hoped for a quieter setting. The table next to us was very loud; even the hostess joined in their conversation constantly-making for a very distracting evening. We'll find another restaurant for our next special anniversary celebration!

We had our anniversary dinner here...made reservations a month in advance, for some reason they had us down for reservations the day before we actually arrived and for Saturday evening...received a phone call the day before we arrived asking why we had not arrived for dinner yet, thus ruining the anniversary surprise...then to top it off the evening of our... We're dropping a star from our experience from last year; apparently they have a new chef who has changed the menu from French to "more Mediterranean" and while still "very good" we can no longer call this is our favorite in Wbrg. The setting, though, is unsurpassed--in a Select Registry hotel on the grounds of the Williamsburg Winery, and the... More

We found the Cafe' online while visiting Colonial Williamsburg and took our son and daughter-in-law. The food was fantastic, and the service was personal. When the owner stopped by our table, and we complimented the chef, he remembered and, later as we were leaving, he saw us and silently pointed to the chef so we could thank him personally. A... More
