Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner.Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg.Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge" and to top it all off “Alain Ducasse.”

Great food and beautiful atmosphere

I'm not a huge fan of French food, but this was absolutely some of the best food I've ever had! I got the duck breast with green peppercorn and orange sauce and wow! Service was great. Our 7 year old son is a picky eater, so we just got him something later - probably most upscale French restaurants... read more

My wife and I attended this restaurant as a date night and were extremely satisfied about every aspect of our experience. The atmosphere was perfect, we went a little after the dinner rush but that only meant a more personal experience for us. Dinner was candlelit with very professional service. It is a little expensive, but I definately recommend this... More

I could not have been more pleased with the dinner I had while in Williamsburg last week. I went with a couple of friends from work and was very impressed with not only the quality of the food, but also the service and atmosphere. While I regularly travel and dine with a toddler, this was not the case the evening... More

In town for a convention and looking for a place to go with a couple of friends - an excellent choice! Service was friendly, yet professional as well as prompt. One friend was concerned about gluten so the waiter immediately checked with the chef. I had the butternut squash soup, which was great. The night's special was lamb - it... More

We have always loved Le Yaca as it was in its old location. Now they have moved to the center of Williamsburg and although the food is still superb, it has lost the quiet ambiance of the past. Lovely place but, as in almost all new restaurants, the surfaces are all hard...no sound absorption anywhere...so it is very noisy and... More

We have eaten here many times over the years. Their new location seems odd -- but once inside, the whole experience changes. It is a wonderful warm inviting atmosphere! The staff is so attentive. "Madam" the owner, oversees everything and is so very gracious. Now the food -- amazing! Please please don't miss their onion soup!! Not like you typical... More

Wonderful atmosphere from the minute we arrived on Feb 14. We had a very friendly hostess and the waiter was our favorite. He has served us since the Kingsmill location and we were happy to see him. We started with champagne and then a wonderful bottle of French wine with dinner. We love the French courses and the time they... More

Good food, atmosphere and waitstaff service. However, it was unfortunate that we were greated by one of the most unsociable, unaccomadating and unfriendly hostess' of all time! It's amazing that they have her as the first thing you experience when you walk in. What were they thinking?

Great food, service and atmosphere. Went with a Wine & Dine group and we all enjoyed the evening. Thursday is the special leg of lamb roasted in an open spit as you enter the restaurant. Great way to get the juices flowing with those fine aromas. Several of us had the lamb with a lamb chop that was cooked to... More
