Do you love chile?

The real deal. Home made chile with nothing phony or glitzy about it - just lots of honest flavor. Which is symbolic of this place. Nothing else going on here except what the name implies, a basic luncheonette. And excellent waitresses, and smiling, friendly staff. By the way, if you like your... read more

We used to go here on Friday nights about once a month when we lived in the area. Eating at a diner in the city we moved to tonight (which wasn't so good) I was missing Basic City and realized I should do a review. On Friday night their special is pork tenderloin, emphasis on tender. You don't even need... More

Before there was foodiness there were basic places with good food like these. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed the homemade chili, grilled cheese sandwich with chips, cole slaw and iced tea. Even the pie choices are throwbacks. Tasty and good food.

The food is great as well as the service. It is very plain inside, old chairs, old tables in a old building. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The steak and gravy is homemade and very good..

If you are looking for hometown cooking, this is the only place to visit! The owners are wonderful and very attentive to their customers. Tenderloin, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and biscuits! This is what I call a meal! Oh yes! Please leave room for their locally homemade desserts as they are quite yummy!

This is one of those little hole in the wall diners. Not much for ambience but the food is simply delicisious and at a bargain price. Unless your going for the atmosphere I highly reccomend this place

I've eaten breakfast - biscuits and tenderloin gravy, outstanding and a platter full. Lunch was a cheeseburger and it was really large for $3.75 a really big meal...Nothing fancy with the inside but the service is fast, friendly and the food is outstanding home cooking.
