As a lover of books and a retired teacher, traveling with another retired teacher and a grandaughter, we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The name alone was enough to draw us in. We got to sit at the bar and watch the food being prepared, very efficiently by super friendly staff. Everyone who worked there was very friendly... More

We three stopped for a unique eperience away from 'the chains'. We were greeted with friendly wait staff/owners. The cafe was bustling with hungry patrons who wouldn't be disappointed.

They offer healthy home cooked food that's made from scratch. They have gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options as well. Their servers are friendly and prompt and I always get a cookie to go.

Delightful bookstore setting for a delicious lunch. We were so glad that we were intrigued by the charming name enough to give it a try. Lots of interesting books to peruse. We had soup and sandwiches -- all very tasty. Friendly staff.

This is probably one of the most charming cafes in the Shenandoah Valley area. It has so much to offer; local veggies and fruit, unique entrees with a lovely presentation. I love the name, remember the old folk tale about the strangers that came to a small village with nothing but a stone. They charmed local residents into contributing one... More

Met friends on the Blue Ridge Parkway today for a hike. Was cooler and rainy, so after our hike we headed into town for some hot tea. The ranger suggested Stone & Soup. We had tea first then browsed the AMAZING book collection. By the time we finished that, it was getting close to dinner and the delicious smells of... More

we were alerted to this place by someone at the humpback rocks visitor center on the blue ridge parkway. very very glad that we found it. great soup and sandwiches. seems like just a tiny bookstore when you first walk in but there's a luncheonette in the back with outdoor seating. will definitely go again when in the area.

There is always something good to eat at Stone Soup - and I am never disappointed. I only get into Waynesboro once a week or so during lunch and this time I tried a today's special - the Roasted Veggie Quesadilla. On general principals I love Mexican food, but if you can keep it healthy - that is so much... More

Outstanding soup, salad and sandwich place. Had the tomato/garlic soup and 1/2 of a goat cheese and spiced walnut sandwich on homemade rolls. Soup was perfect, not the typical cream based soup but broth and natural tomato juices provided the liquid. The taste of fresh tomato's really came thru and were not overpowered by the garlic. Sandwich was fresh goat cheese... More
