A lovely meal and location - just don't be in a hurry

We have dined at Blue Rock Inn twice now, each time we have stayed in nearby Luray. The setting is quite lovely, overlooking vineyards, water and mountains. The décor is elegantly updated. We have found the food to be very good both times we have visited and they stay updated appropriate to the... read more

Blue Rock is closed for now.... awaiting a new owner to breathe life back into a a most extraordinary location. Everyone hopes - It is truly a magnificent view, and piece of land, but it has been so badly managed in the past, that it has been unable to make a go of it. It has had several owners over... More

Even up the long driveway. Very ordinary food, staff and building. Turnover seems high. We have tried it a few times as it is so close to the Inn of Little Washington. We want it to be better but our wanting hasn't been enough.

My wife and I recently had a great Sunday brunch here. The patio outside on a gorgeous day was really nice. The bloody Mary's were excellent. The biscuits and gravy and shrimp and grits were to die for! We loved it all: food, outdoor patio, service. Great place to go if you are hitting wineries, shopping in Little Washington, or... More

We stopped in for dinner on a quiet Sunday evening and we were very impressed with the menu and how many items were offered. Most all of the entrees are farm-to-table, including bison from local Madison County, VA. The views of the mountains and pond out the windows of the dining room were breathtaking! The summer salad was AMAZING! Very... More

Stopped in with my girlfriend for an impromptu dinner on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend and had a great table for two overlooking the lake with an amazing sunset behind the mountains, other than that, terrible experience. We waited 20 minutes for non-alcoholic drinks, 50 minutes for a caesar salad app, and 90+ minutes for our meal. We ended up... More

The Blue Rock is back! We hadn't been for about 6 months or so and then found the food to be so-so. As always the ambiance and views made it a pleasant experience. Now it is again more than that. We returned on the advice of a number of friends in the county who were very pleased with the menu... More

It was a pleasant restaurant that was close enough to The Inn at Little Washington (where we were staying for two nights). The views were lovely and the food was a little better than average. Wait stuff was attentive, but food and quality does not compare to the Inn.

Had dinner here for my daughter's birthday. We had a wonderful table set for nine guests. The guests included a baby and a service dog. The Inn was very accommodating to our needs. The waiter was very knowledgeable and the staff was quick to refill glasses and empty bread baskets. The food and service were excellent. I will return in... More

It probably didn't help that both the dining room and restaurant were quiet on the evening of our visit. Whilst the menu was interesting, if maybe slightly pretentious, I don't think the food loved up to it unfortunately. Our service was good though I'm sure if we had been there any longer she would have saluted! Didn't like the way... More
