We have passed this place numerous times but finally stopped on the way home from a game at UVA. The French Dip was very good. Wife got chicken and dumplings, also pretty good. Our one mistake was ordering the "chicken and rice" soup. It smelled bad and tasted worse...a cross between grease and dishwater. If not for this, I would... More

Got off of 66 and it was one of the first restaurants we saw on the way down 29. The restaurant is really cold so bring a sweater ladies. The corn fritters were yummy and the burger was cooked perfectly and really delicious. After we left we were particularly glad we stopped there because we really didn't see anything else... More

We have never had a bad meal here or even an indifferent one. The food is consistently good. Last night my husband I had Northside's Angus Burgers (the double for my husband!) - both were cooked exactly as ordered and were delicious. The cole slaw was honestly the best we have ever had. When you add friendly service and reasonable... More

Imagine your favorite Artichoke dip on a turkey and provolone panini. Then imagine it even better. This sandwich was a pleasant surprise at a hometown diner with generous portions, friendly staff and great values.

We eat at 29 at least 2 times a week for dinner. Thursday night i had a new cream of onion soup and it was the best i have ever had. How i love french onion but this was even better. I love there fish either alone or a sandwish. They have some great specials. We are always happy when... More

This place has a nice, down home feel to it. They have lots of booths and some tables and we have always sat at a booth. The portions are big and you won't leave hungry. The service is excellent and I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. You won't be disappointed!

Good stop along Route 29 for some simple food. The prices might be a bit high, but we thought the food was good. The service was very good and friendly. We had gyro platter (very good) and chopped steak (just ok). The sandwiches looked very good, maybe will try that next time.

If you are enroute somewhere else, this is a decent place to stop on Rt 29. The food is over-priced but the service is very good. Rheir breakfast is your best choice. Their desserts are quite good and the Greek soup is homemade--great on a cold, rainy day. They have a good-sized back room for large parties.

This is exactly what you would expect from a country-style diner-good food, inexpensive and friendly staff. There's something about Sunday brunch at a diner that's always fantastic. We had a group of about 14 and not a single problem. We showed up without calling ahead or giving them any warning, but were seated and served promptly. I had a hot... More

This joint is owned and operated by the same family that owns the pizza place next door. If you have ever been disappointed in Spitony's, you can expect the same at Northside, but with table service. The food seems, honestly, to be cooked by the wait staff; consistency is 100-percent non-existent. Even breakfast, eggs and toast for heaven's sake, lacks... More
