Hit or Miss

My husband and I live right in old town. We love being able to walk up to Main Street and enjoy all the local restaurants. When we first moved 2 years ago, Black Bear/The Brick was always a HIT. About 6 months later things went down hill. I'm not sure what changed but it's hit or miss with this... read more

After a grueling day of "antiqueing" from Sterling to Culpepper to Sperryville the return home we were famished. This was one of multipple restaurants that popped up on the search in Warrenton. There was no seating in the upstairs or the pizza restaurant section below so we grabbed the bar Big menu - i saw a turkey reuben and asked... More

Black Bear was recommended by a local friend. Our experience was pleasant though not without issues. Generally, the ambience was cozy where we were seated in the basement, though a couple of our party members found the room stiflingly hot. There were two gas fireplaces running. Our server obliged us by turning off one fire. We were pleased to encounter... More

Have eaten here twice. Once for brunch and was not impressed with the menu offerings. The second time was last week for dinner. Very nice. We ate in the bistro portion with the white table clothes. Food was outstanding especially the chicken pot pie and steak special. The garlic knots were exceptional as well. Waitress started off strong but then... More

If you are visiting the charming town of Warrenton, this is a very good casual place to eat or drink. I actually thought the fried oysters I ordered were as good as I had ever had anywhere. Other party ordered cuban sandwich which they said was excellent. We also ordered Pizza which we had differing opinions of (I liked it).... More

I really wanted to like Black Bear Bistro as it was recommended to my husband by a co-worker. Warrenton is a charming little town, but there are not very many restaurants in the old town area. From the outside, Black Bear Bistro is very appealing. We chose to eat outside on the back patio. Unfortunately, the view isn't very pretty,... More

We were driving through Warrenton on our way home from a Bed & Breakfast weekend. This restaurant sounded local, which we like to support. However, the hostess didn't seem to understand her role, I really hope she was new. She took us to a cold dark corner of the basement when we asked for some place warm and bright. She... More

Four of us went here for lunch and had a hard time deciding what to eat because the menu is huge and varied. Everyone enjoyed their choices, and the portions are generous and reasonably priced.
