A local secret seafood haven

I've been going here for years and the food and service continue to amaze. Nothing fancy, very old decor, but the freshest and perfectly prepared seafood anywhere. Great for breakfast too.

Had the seafood combo and it was all good, tasty hush puppies and all. Love the decor, hand painted ceiling tiles, low key atmosphere. Minimal wait for dinner, was about a third full but this off season too.

Stopped by for a late lunch - 2:30pm. I had the sea trout and husband had the flounder - both we perfectly cooked - not overdone. Loved our sides of stewed tomatoes, pickled beets, coleslaw, & fries - all delish. Had the pumpkin pie and chocolate scoop for dessert - both delicious! All for the cost of one dinner at other places!

The hotel concierge recommended I eat at Nick's during a recent visit to Virginia Beach. He told me it was local, nothing fancy, but excellent food. And he was right! Nothing fancy (which is perfectly fine by me!), lots of locals filled the place (that's how you know it's good), and the food was simple yet tasty and affordable. I... More

Nick's is a small hole in the wall place, away from the tourist area among some small shops. We were told about it by a friend who had lived in Virginia Beach years ago, so Nick's has been around awhile. The place was packed and the waitresses seem to know everybody. It was apparent that this is were the locals... More

I have never had lobster before and Deanna noticed me struggling and personally coached me on how to do the lobster step by step. She was busy at the time but still assisted me! Great service and quality food here. We had a great time and the champagne mimosas were excellent!

Nice local seafood place with home cooked side dishes. The flounder was exceptional!! The had actual Disney coloring books for the kids!! Sorry we missed the lobster special on Thursdays!! The crab cakes were wonderful and the hush puppies were a nice sweet surprise before dinner!!

I have been coming to Virginia Beach from the UK for 15-20 years and always try to make a point of going to Nicks, it isn't fine dining but the food I've had there and the value for money is brilliant, the decor is a bit old fashioned but who worries when on a Thursday night you can get lobster... We met a high level Va Beach city employee who told us this is the local's place for seafood, and he was right. Not the fancy inside you expect as a tourist, everyone seems like a regular, paper placemats with ads, but the freshest fish and shellfish dinners we could possibly ask for. We've stopped in more than once, and... More
