Proper Indian Cuisine

It is very difficult to find good Indian food in the US. However, Nawab is excellent, the food was perfect. I had the Lamb Vindaloo (Indian Hot), and for once it was the right heat, and the lamb was so tender. The Naan bread is delicious, especially the garlic naan. To top it all off they serve... read more

Nawab is located in an unassuming small strip mall on the midst of shopping chaos in Virginia Beach. All sensory aspects of this restaurant are pleasing. The menu has everything I could ask for. The music and decor were soothing. The service was friendly but not intrusive. The heat scale question - 1 to 5 - was accurate. We were... More

Just finished up a delicious dinner, take-out however, from Nawab. Got FIVE entrees and shared them between the members of my family. Got a bunch of chicken dishes, all +2 spicy, all equally different and delicious. Can't remember the name of the dish but LOVED whichever was cooked with coconut and fruits, unreal. We can't wait to go back and... More

This gem of a restaurant is hidden in a nondescript exterior, but inside, has elegant decor and friendly atmosphere. The service was good. We had vegetable korma, assorted bread, and pakora. The meal was excellent, and the portions were large enough to split. I would advise ordering family-style. A truly excellent experience. We will be back many times.

My husband and I are both lovers of Indian food and have traveled there for work, so know good Indian...with that said, this buffet was delicious! Lots of great choices and all wonderful and VERY reasonable. The décor was soothing and the staff was super friendly. Definitely on the list to go back!

First visit. Went for lunch. Seemed like most were going for lunch buffet. Order a couple small plates that sounded good. Generally good. Mulligatawny Soup very good flavor. Service was clumsy. Asked for iced tea three times, then was asked after I ordered my meal if I wanted something to drink. Communication challenge making for less than great experience.

We got lots of tandoori foods (fish, chicken, and vegetables) and some vegetable korma and and sides/breads. All of us were happy. Great bread and side samplers and plenty of food. All of it was wonderful. Our server didn't speak much English but she tried hard and I used a few Hindi words to make her more comfortable. We all... More

This modest restaurant located in a tiny strip mall in the Hilltop Area is well worth a visit. The food is authentic and beautifully cooked and presented. The service is personal and attentive. Recommendations from the staff were spot on. The restaurant is very clean and quiet which makes enjoyment of your dining companions front and center--rare in this age... More

Admittedly this is the first Indian restaurant I've ever been to so I don't have anything to compare it to but we loved it. I like the idea of a buffet because it allows me to try a bit of everything. The chicken methi and vegetable kormi was delicious! I was worried my kids wouldn't like it but they ate... More
