We're locals. My husband took me here for our first date. Just got back from a VERY disappointing dinner for 9. A birthday celebration. Seated on the porch freezing.....Cold Food. Waitress unaccomadating. Asked for garlic mashed potatoes instead of red potatoes, nope. Even added perhaps the chef would accomadate us since we were freezing in our coats, nop This will... more

Historic, "old school" and very enjoyable. Always fun, and rough around the edges in all the right ways. Reminds me of the old Virginia beach from the 70s and 80s. Some items are priced a little high for what you get, but you get a lot (more than you need, for sure), so plan on some take homes or don't... more

We had great seafood in this old converted seaside house. There is dining on the porch and inside. Small bar. Dinner dishes $12-$20, see menu on website. Our party had the Potato Chip Encrusted Mahi, the Tilapia Au Gratin and Scallops Barca, all were excellent! more

Me? - Retired Military & Corp. Pilot... I've eaten in a few places around the world - never had better seafood, or service than this... Blackened Tuna w/Gorgonzola cheese... my wife had Scallops Barca... 'Five Stars' for the seafood is an understatement! - both dishes! ---Julie was the waitress--- delightful - incomparable! And... a 'Perfect Martini' is not easy to... more

Tautog's is a great dinner place. You are greeted warmly. The menu is not extensive but has good variety. The serving staff needs a little help as they don't always tell you the specials and sometimes speak too quickly to understand. The decor is wonderful and the food is outstanding. Unfortunately, I liked the beef tenderloin so much I kept... more

My appetizer pizza had a piece of plastic bag in it. Our waitress did nothing but report it to kitchen(?) and take it off our bill. Whoopee! I did have this in my mouth, it did not chew well. This was last night Oct. 30 2009. Jesse was our waitress. She screwed up an order at the other end of... more

I ate here with clients. This either is or is trying to be an old beach restaurant. It has the look and feel of an old lobster shack. I suppose that is the "charm." The food was so-so, but I ended up ill afterwards. I can't say if it was the food or the odd combination of things. There are... more

Seven of us, four adults and two teens and an eleven-year old dined at Tautogs on Columbus Day weekend 2009. Our table was in the bar, which is the living room of the former cottage and has a fireplace, Service was friendly and attentive, and the assorted seafood dishes (and one steak) our party devoured were to die for. With... more

We recently ate here two evenings in a row. We ate here every night when we visited Va. Beach a few years ago. The she-crab soup is outstanding...very rich and full of flavor. Their crab cakes are excellent. The home-made tartar sauce is really good. The steamed crab legs were fresh and perfectly done. Neither of us were particularly interested... more

The food was decent and no frills and the service was fine. This small restaurant seemed very popular and for the price, I'll be back. more
