As a NJ native now living in the south, I sometimes (OK, always) long for a chance to get a great pastrami sandwich once in a while. Now I know that whenever I get to Virginia Beach I have that chance. When we arrived at the Route 58 Deli there were people lined up, and we expected a long wait.... More

This restaurant portends to be the Virginia Beach version of New York's famous Carnegie Deli. It's not. Although it's sandwich proportions are as big as the Carnegie Deli's, the quality and taste don't match it. On the occasion of our visit my wife and I decided to have lunch here. The decor is early New Jersey/New York with all decorations... More

My wife and I shared a pastrami sandwich and a knish. Both were excellent and were consistent with past dining experiences at the restaurant. The Route 58 Delicatessen is comparable to any New York Deli.

This place is as close to a 5 out of 5 that I can give out of all our local delis. The only thing stopping that fifth star are the sides; however, the sandwiches are without a doubt a 5. Trust me when I say the reuben is tied for the best reuben I have ever had.

Best place around ! The sandwiches are big enough for two but I always get my own!! They are a second meal and just as good and tender as the first day. The ruebens are to die for. The pastrami is also! I have never gotten anything here that was NOT absolutely wonderful. Great sides, and the best for last.......the... More

My wife and I read the reviews so on a visit to Va Beach for a wedding, we had lunch at Rt 58 Deli. We are born & raised in Brooklyn so we know Deli. Finding the store is a small challenge as it sits in a shopping center back from Rt 58/Va Beach Blvd. But once we spotted it,... More

I've been a few times and must say the pastrami is delicious. I don't know of any other restaurant in the area that can compare. This is NY good. But I have to agree with others who say it is pricey for the area. The pastrami sandwich is huge and most people would probably want to split it. So that... More

I generally like reuben sandwiches fairly well, but these were the best I have ever eaten. The portions are huge and not many can finish without sharing! The sandwich meeat and sauces were delicious and the dessert were unbelievable. Plan to take a nap afterwards!
