We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and we finally went on a Saturday evening. Since we were there in the off season, it was not crowded, even at 7:00pm. The restaurant is know for its eclectic dining menu and for serving creative dishes using fresh, local ingredients. We were very pleased with our dishes. I... More

The food is top-notch at Eat: our table of three shared the Ants on a Log (escargot and bone marrow--better than you might think) and Oysters Rock[afeller] before diving into Shortribs, Oyster Stew, and a couple of Bacon Old-School salad wedges. Perfection! After a bottle of reasonably-priced wine and a shared dessert, we sat and discussed potential dates for our... More

Every time we visit Virginia Beach (and we do so at least 4 times a year) we make sure we visit Eat. They have a dining room as well as a popular bar with a bistro menu and blackboard specials if you prefer more casual dining. We usually head straight to the bar for one of barman Chad's daily wine... More

This was the perfect place to eat on a brutally cold night at the beach. i actually ate there twice in a week-long business trip. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was excellent--he knew his food and wine, and was really exuberant. Try the shrimp and grits. It's never been my favorite meal, but this treatment (with a... More

This was our third time here and we have never been disappointed. We have had the filet, the oysters, the duck and last night the lamb special. All were very good. We always get a Spanish red wine that is good and reasonable price. The presentation of the food is similar to many upscale restaurants but you don't leave hungry.... More

I've been eating at....erm...EAT for years now and their old standby's keep bringing me back over and over. The oyster stew they frequently have as a special is really amazing. I can't resist it. Also enjoy the braised beef shortribs quite a bit. Keep doing what you do, EAT! My favorite bistro in VB.

We decided to take advantage of restaurant week and treat my sister and brother in law for dinner. Great food and enjoyed the special restaurant week menu and pricing. Thanks to Will, our server, for taking wonderful care of us !

Contrary to many of the reviews I read here, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. the food was very good - especially the Crawdad hush puppies. The one negative is the background smell. It smells a lot like a chlorine pump room for a swimming pool. After about 20mins it either lessened, or we just got used to it.

Stopped in for dinner and found the place packed. The welcoming hostess offered a spot at the end of the bar. Since it was just hubby and me, it was perfect. The bartender acknowledged us immediately even though he was very busy. The martinis were great and had a nice selection of beer. Settled on wedge salads to start and... More
