Description: Local favorite that is great for visitors as well. Great breakfast right on the water at the Rudee Inlet. Was recommended to us by some locals and overheard at least 2 other people telling other visitors to go there during our 5 day stay. Great lunch and dinners also that feature daily blackboard specials. All desserts are homemade. Seafood, fresh meats, produce and dairy are delivered fresh everyday.

Stopped at Big Sam's for a late lunch and to watch the game. The food we had was amazing! The she crab soup is one if the best on the beach!! Our server Kelly was so sweet and never missed a beat! Ask for her if you stop in!!

I eat at Big Sam's at least once every time I come to Virginia Beach. It is a local's favorite and definitely one of mine. I usually come here for breakfast. They have great pancakes, voted the best in the area several times, but also any other traditional breakfast meal you would like. And the Waterman is a classic, replacing... More

The place is kind of a dive. It's located next to a rental stand and we had a problem with flies and a slight odor while we were waiting. There is no real place to check in since a soon as you walk in the dining area is there. BUT the food was great and plentiful; my family of 5... More

My wife and I just enjoyed a nice lunch at Big Sam's. I had the crab cake sandwich ($12.99), which is to die for. The cake was large, meaty, prepared perfectly, and absolutely delicious. No fillers here, all crab. It came with one side item. I chose charo beans, which a are pinto beans seasoned with pork, and are also... More

We ate here last month while waiting to go out on a fishing charter. Delicious crab cake definitely the best one I've had in years. We also ordered the grilled chicken and grilled cheese with fries. Everyone loved everything. Just wish they had a blender as I love a frozen drink in the summer. Will definitely be back.

Big Sam's can get very crowded but it's worth it if you can get inside and try the wings. Make sure to ask for them double-cooked. That's the only reason I go there but my family has always had the quesadillas and steak and cheese subs. All food was very plentiful and tasty. The limeades are quite tasty also. Fun... More

Spent a day offshore and came back to the docks looking for a cold beer! The folks said, just walk around the corner there (by the parasailing rental) and visit Big Sam. Glad I did....walked up the ramp, sat at the bar and ordered me a cold one (they have some great deals on tall boys).... While I didn't eat... More

This is a casual place to have a beer and some seafood. The crab cake sandwich was excellent. I have made two trips there.
