Local favorite that is great for visitors as well. Great breakfast right on the water at the Rudee Inlet. Was recommended to us by some locals and overheard at least 2 other people telling other visitors to go there during our 5 day stay. Great lunch and dinners also that feature daily blackboard specials. All desserts are homemade. Seafood, fresh meats, produce and dairy are delivered fresh everyday.

Our favorite local restaurant

We love Sam's!!! We eat here quit often. I am not sure how they cook all the food they do in that little space behind the bar but they do! It's always good and consistent!

This joint is right on the water at Rudee Inlet and should be called The Taste of VB. Great bar food and drinks, extremely informal and real. Truly real! Fresh everything and a gem. Fun to just be there. Nothing bad about Big Sam's

The good: kids enjoyed fried shrimp and chicken fingers. We liked the grilled/fried wings, pulled pork sandwich and fish tacos were tasty. Restrooms were clean and wait to get a table was 15 minutes at 3pm on a Saturday. And the waitress kept the water and tea coming after a hot day in the beach. The ok..... 1. Place is... More

Every time we travel to the beach area, we have lunch at Big Sams!! They have a little bit of everything to please the pallet. Fresh & homemade greens, sauces, salad dressings. pancakes, seafood just anything you want, done to perfection and a plate piled high! Its a small place down by the rental boat concession, but you will never... More

We came to Virginia Beach particularly to have the Bid Sam's crab balls that we had on a previous visit. They didn't disappoint. So good!

Once you can make peace with the wait time and awkward waiting area, you will never want to leave ( Hence the long wait at times) The place is the text book definition of what a relaxing dinner should be. Kids? Bring 'em. Loud kids? Bring 'em. Don't feel like changing from all day in the sun? Bathing suits welcome.... More

Enjoyed our she crab soup with large lump crab. Very large lump. Enjoyed our shrimp and grits. Very basic, no frills, filling. Beware of American Cheese on sandwiches.

Cool local place. My husband and I stopped by for drinks and a appetizer on an afternoon of exploring the inlet. The crab dip was heavy on the cheese, light on the crab, still was good though, just not what I was expecting. It's a busy place, obviously its a local and tourist favorite.

First of all though this restaurant is on the water (Rudee inlet) there is wood around the dining room between the upper and lower windows which prevented me from looking at the inlet. There were not a lot of egg choices for breakfast. The home fries were pre-packaged.The veggies in my omelet were minimal. Our waitress seemed unmotivated. She didn't... More

I visited Big Sam's last weekend with family. We've eaten there on previous visits to Va Beach and my teenage/early 20's sons and my husband liked it. This time our experience wasn't as good. My son and his girlfriend ordered quesadillas and I ordered crab dip. The dip just didn't have a great flavor. I've had better at other places,... More
