A Hidden Gem in Virginia Beach

The Cellars is probably the finest restaurant in Virginia Beach. It is rated nationally as one of the best and it more than exceeds its reputation as the finest. My wife and I visited The Cellars last night for a birthday dinner. We were immediately impressed by the bed and breakfast located above the restaurant, the vintage house is gorgeous. The Cellars is in the basement of the house, however is very pleasant and inviting. We were seated immediately at a perfect table. For a small place, the tables... More

We have gone to the cellars on multiple occasions and each time we can not wait to go back. The ban ban shrimp is a great way to start out, so is the fondue. The wild boar and bison meatloaf - I am still dreaming about it from last week. The ribeye is also always perfect. The waitstaff is unbeatable.... More

Thought that I was doing a birthday dinner with my wife & I but discovered several close friends were awaiting our arrival when we arrived. Surprise! Restaurant is located in a very upscale neighborhood in Thoroughgood section of Virginia Beach and is very appealing exterior setting & lighting upon arrival unlike most restaurants in Hampton Roads which are set in... We had 2 dinners here while staying at the B&B attached to this property. I can only say that I truly wish I lived closer because I'd want to eat here at least once a week. Every dish we had was wonderful and our server, Samantha, was attentive and helpful. I especially enjoyed the "Maple Manhattan" for my nightly cocktail.... More

Went New Years Eve. Food was terrible. Lobster bisque was cold. Fish was also cold. Had to send 3 out of 4 dinners back. Worst part maitre' didn't really care. Would never go back. Others must have had problems too the place was empty on News Eve.

We have always held The Cellars in highest regard, and it is our "go to" place for special occasions. We have never been disappointed in food or service until last evening. After we were seated by the Maitre'd, fifteen minutes passed without service, so my husband went to the bar to order us a bottle of wine. When the barman... More

We eat here only infrequently and I always wonder why. The food is fresh and wonderfully prepared. What amazed me this time was that when I was trying to pick a wine, the server steered me to a very inexpensive bottle that was delicious. The place is small, and is in a cellar. Don't be put off. It's in a... More

The Cellars Restaurant is one of those best kept secrets places, probably because of its location smack dab in the midst of a lovely upscale community. Combined with the charming bed and breakfast above, it is a perfect location for a destination wedding. Grotto-like, the ambiance is warmly convivial. The cozy lounge off the bar is a great place to... More

We went for an anniversary dinner, and we had the best table in a corner, with dim romantic lighting. We both had quail and gnocci. Can't wait to go back!
